Context Analysis

• Determine the credibility of the source.

• We need to make sure that the source of the information is reliable,

trustworthy, credible to talk about the information s/he is presenting.
 Contextual Analysis
• Background of the event
- Refers to what was happening at the time of
the writing/making of the source.
• Background of the author
- Basic information about the author/maker of
the source such as what was his/her profession or
what was s/he doing at that time the source was
made.
• Type of source
- Is the source a diary? Newspaper article? A
report to the officials? Etc.
- Helps in determining why the source was
made.
