HYDRO POWER
P = ηρQgh
P: is power in watt,
η: is the dimensionless efficiency of the turbine-alternator set.
ρ: is the density of water in kilogram per cubic meter,
Q: is the flow in cubic meters per second,
g: is the acceleration due to gravity,
h: is the height difference between inlet and outlet in meter.
Introduction to hydro power plant
Hydropower transforms the potential energy of a mass of water flowing in a
river or stream with a certain vertical fall (termed the “head”)
RUN-OF-RIVER TYPE
These are hydro power plants that utilize the stream flow as it comes , without
any storage being provided.
