These are 3 year duration courses after MBBS.
In case of candidate having Recognized 2 year Diploma,
then MD/MS will be having 2 year duration.
Super Speciality Courses
DM – Doctorate of Medicine
MCh – Magister Chirurgiae (MCh)
These are 3 year duration courses after completing Broad
Speciality (MD/MS)

(to be applied in accordance with the provision under
Section 28 of NMC Act, 2019
MUHS, Nashik consent of affiliation.

Qualifying Criteria to Start PG/SS courses
Medical College recognized for running MBBS course OR
for increase Medical College already conducting PG
course prior to NMC Act, 2019.
Medical College not yet recognized for award of MBBS
degree under NMC Act, 2019. Such college can apply for
pre-clinical and para-clinical subject at the time of 3 rd
renewal. In clinical subject can apply at the time of 4 th
renewal.
NMC may exempt condition of undergraduate teaching
facility to autonomous/ specialist institution managed by
Central Govt./State Govt./Institute of eminence or
excellence conferred by the Govt. of India.
The ratio of recognized Post Graduate teacher to number of
students to be admitted for PG (As BOG, MCI, Notification dated
04.04.2019)

subject after obtaining recognised postgraduate
degree.
Institutional Facilities
In Patient Facilities –
For Broad Speciality Dept. to be recognised for training of
postgraduate student shall have minimum beds as mentioned in
MBBS Admission Regulation 2020.
For Super Speciality Dept. minimum 20 beds in a concerned
speciality.
Out Patient Facilities –
Adequate space and sufficient number of consultation cubicles
available in OPD.
Supportive Labs and Imaging Facilities –
Investigating facility for advanced knowledge and technology as
per research requirement.
Shall have both CT Scan and MRI Scan facilities before starting of
PG course.

FAQ’s
Q. For starting or increase in PG Courses the PG Medical
Education regulation require at least 30 beds/unit. The new
2020 NMC regulations for Annual MBBS admissions
specifies lower number of beds/unit. Which bed/unit
norms will be applicable for PG courses?
A. The start of or increase in Postgraduate courses at present
will be governed by the existing Postgraduate Medical
Education Regulations of the erstwhile Medical Council of
India.
Q. Which teaching faculty norm will apply for PG Courses – as
per new Minimum requirements notified by NMC in 2020 or
the as per the Postgraduate Medical Education regulations
in existence ?
B. The norms for teachers in departments running PG courses
will be as per the existing Postgraduate Medical Education
regulations of the erstwhile Medical Council of India.
