Objectives:

• Explain the process on how to spot a trend
• Point out the elements that make up a trend
• Describe the different characteristics of a trend
• Identify parts of a whole.
• Identify and explain an emerging pattern
TRENDS VS.
FAD
TREND
  basically a pattern or a conceptualized idea that has the
prospect of providing or having a continuing influence for a
longer period of time due to its increasing and sustained
presence and effect.
 Sociologists view trend as a collective behavior or mass
involvement which is acceptable to society and shows a
“line of historical continuity” as it can tone down today
but can comeback sometime in the future with a greater
impact.
FAD
   a style, activity, or interest that is very popular for a
short period of time.
 fad comes and goes more quickly
NOTE: Two most important elements to
consider when dealing with trends and fads
are the element of time and the
number of people involved
