This document discusses the three R's of reducing waste: reduce, reuse, and recycle. It defines each term and provides examples. Reduce means to use less and create less waste by purchasing less wasteful products. Reuse involves using items more than once rather than throwing them away after single use. Recycling converts waste materials into reusable materials through processing. The document encourages finding new purposes for used items before disposal and provides recycling facts about materials like glass, paper, and plastic.

Recycle REDUCE REDUCE: to make something smaller or use less ,resulting in a smaller amount of waste. “Source reduction” is a reducing waste before You purchase it ,or by purchasing products that are not wasteful in their packaging or use. A key part of waste “reduction” is “conservation”- using natural resources wisely and using less than usual in order to avoid waste. REUSE REUSE: to use again or more than once Reuse materials and items so that they have longer life spans and don’t get thrown away after the first use. Many items found around the home can be used for different purposes. So before you throw those items away, think about how they can be reused. recycle RECYCLE: to convert materials /waste into reusable material . Landfills are full of items that could be recycled . Recycling puts objects through a process that allows them to be used again • Newspaper, Cardboard ,Bubble Wrap Make useful packing material when moving out or to store items. •Old Clothes Can be made into other textile items such as cushion covers. •Scrap Paper Can be used to make notes and sketches. Don’t forget to recycle it when you no longer need it. RECYCLING FACTS Recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to light a 100-Watt bulb for 4 hours. Americans use 4 million plastic bottles every hour.
Around 200 B.C. the Chinese used fishing nets to create
the world’s very first piece of recycled paper Glass never wears out , it can be recycled for ever. NAME- EKTA DARDA CLASS- X SECTION- F ENROLMENT No.- 2009000138 BIOLOGY TEACHER- MS. VINEETA MANHAR
