RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CIVIL
ENGINEER
 Civil engineers have to assess and do a complete feasibility study of the
construction site. They have to consider many factors, including the impact on
nature and the surrounding environment, and plan accordingly.
 Civil engineers have to plan out the whole construction process beforehand. This
has to be a systematic process to facilitate the smooth flow of work. Every step has
to be meticulously planned.
 If the budget already has been set for the work, it is the job of the civil engineer to
make sure all the construction happens within the budget.
 The biggest responsibility of a civil engineer is to oversee the construction. They
have to be there to see the construction being done in phases set by them. They
also check the quality during construction.
 Before the project can be termed complete, civil engineers have to do a thorough
final inspection of the construction. Once the structure is deemed safe, they prepare
a report and label the construction as complete.
 SKILLS REQUIRED FOR CIVIL ENGINEER

 ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to

REQUIREMENTS FOR CIVIL ENGINEER
 working experience in civil engineering
 Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD,
Civil 3D or similar
 Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, regulatory
approvals etc.
 Project management and supervision skills
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills
 License of professional engineer
 BS/MA in Civil Engineering

 Setting budgets
 Making sure that the hotel sticks to the budget at all times
 Implementing measures if the hotel is not sticking to the budget
 Managing and disciplining staff
 Hiring staff
 Organizing training for new staff members
 Organizing shifts for staff and informing them of their work commitment
 Targeting new markets to increase interest in the hotel
 Making sure that the physical environment of the hotel is maintained at all times
 Dealing with security issues
 Greeting customers
 Dealing with customer complaints
 Assessing feedback from customers

REQUIREMENTS FOR HOTEL
MANAGER
 Working experience as Hotel Manager or relevant role
 Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus
 Understanding of all hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines
 Working knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of hotel management software (PMS) is
an advantage
 Excellent customer service skills as well as a business mindset
 Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
 Reliable with an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
 Outstanding leadership skills and a great attention to detail
 Degree in Business Administration, Hotel/Hospitality Management or relevant field
