Technology
What is Technology?

Advancements in the ways and tools we employ to

solve issues or achieve a goal are referred to as
"technology." Technology in the classroom might include
everything from a low-tech pencil, paper, and blackboard
to presentation software, high-tech tablets, internet
collaboration and conferencing tools, and more.
We can attempt things in physical and virtual
classrooms that we couldn't before thanks to new
technologies. What you utilize is mostly determined by
the goal you're attempting to achieve.
Categories of
TECHNOLOGY
There are 6 categories of technology.
1. Construction
2. Transportation
3. Energy/Power
4. Communication
5. Manufacturing
6. Bio-Related
Communication

The sending and receiving of

messages.
Construction

The design and development of

new buildings and structures
Energy

The power/fuel of
technology. Considered the
“food” of technology. All
other areas depend on it.
Manufacturing

The design and

development of products.
Transportation

The movement of people

or goods.

Many methods: cars,

trucks, airplanes, trains,
pipelines.
Bio-related Technology

Technology related to
life. This includes all
technologies used in
the medical field.

Technology
What is
EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY?
The term "educational
technology" refers to "technical
instruments and media that
aid in the communication,
development, and
sharing of
information."
Purpose of Technology
in Teaching &
Learning
Technology's goal is to enable effective data
sharing in order to address some of society's most
pressing issues and to assist individuals and businesses
in becoming more innovative, efficient, and productive.

Students benefit from technology because it offers

them with fast access to knowledge, rapid learning, and
entertaining ways to apply what they've learned. It allows
pupils to learn about new topics and have a better
comprehension of challenging concepts.
Importance of
Educational Technology
in Teaching
& Learning
Technology helps instructors to reinforce and extend
information, inspires pupils to study, and allows them
to adapt to a range of learning styles, among other
things. Furthermore, 7 out of 10 instructors polled
stated that technology enables them to “do far more
than ever before” for their kids.
How can technology help you?
1. Students and teachers may exchange papers online, modify them in real time, and show them on a
screen using online collaboration technologies like Google Apps. This provides students with a
collaborative platform for brainstorming ideas and documenting their work through text and photos.
2. Presentation software (such as PowerPoint) enables instructors to embed high-resolution photographs,
diagrams, videos, and sound files to augment text and verbal lecture content.
3. Tablets can be linked to computers, projectors, and the cloud so that students and instructors can
communicate through text, drawings, and diagrams.
4. Course management tools such as Canvas allow instructors to organize all the resources students need
for a class (e.g. syllabi, assignments, readings, online quizzes), provide valuable grading tools, and
create spaces for discussion, document sharing, and video and audio commentary.
5. lickers and smartphones are a quick and easy way to survey students during class. This is great for
instant polling, which can quickly assess students’ understanding and help instructors adjust pace and
content.
6. Studies show that posting recorded lectures does not diminish attendance and students really
appreciate the opportunity to review lectures at their own pace. Lecture-capture tools such as Panopto
allow instructors to record lectures directly from their computer, without elaborate or additional
classroom equipment.
