Letting God Work

in Our Lives

From Fear to Trust

in God

Psalm 56:1-13
¶ Be gracious to me, O God, for man has [a]1trampled upon me;
[b]Fighting all day long he 2oppresses me.
My foes have [c]3trampled upon me all day long,
For [d]they are many who 4fight proudly against me.
[e]When I am 5afraid,
[f]I will 6put my trust in You.
7In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.
8What can mere [g]man do to me?
All day long they [h]9distort my words;
All their [i]10thoughts are against me for evil.
They [j]11attack, they lurk,
They 12watch my [k]steps,
As they have 13waited to take my [l]life.
Because of wickedness, [m]14cast them forth,
In anger 15put down the peoples, O God!
¶ You 16have taken account of my wanderings;
Put my 17tears in Your bottle.
Are they not in 18Your book?
Then my enemies will 19turn back 20in the day when I call;
This I know, [n]that 21God is for me.
In God, whose word I praise,
In the LORD, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my [o]trust, I shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
Your 22vows are binding upon me, O God;
I will render thank offerings to You.
For You have 23delivered my soul from death,
[p]Indeed 24my feet from stumbling,
So that I may 25walk before God
In the 26light of the [q]living.

I. TURN TO GOD
1 Samuel 21:10-15
10 Then David set out and fled that day from Saul, and went to
Achish king of Gath. 11 But the servants of Achish said to him, “Is
this not David, the king of the land? Did they not sing of this one as
they danced, saying,
‘Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands’?”
12 David took these words [a]to heart and greatly feared Achish king
of Gath. 13 So he disguised his sanity while in their sight and acted
insanely in their [b]custody, and he scribbled on the doors of the gate,
and drooled on his beard. 14 Then Achish said to his servants, “Look,
you see the man is behaving like an insane person. Why do you bring
him to me? 15 Do I lack insane people, that you have brought this one
to behave like an insane person in my presence? Shall this one come
into my house?”
I. TURN TO GOD
PHILIPPIANS 4:6
6 Do not [a]be anxious about
anything, but in everything by
prayer and pleading with
thanksgiving let your requests be
made known to God.
I. TURN TO GOD
1 PETER 5:6-7
6 Therefore humble yourselves
under the mighty hand of God, so
that He may exalt you at the proper
time, 7 having cast all your anxiety
on Him, because He cares about
you.
I. TURN TO GOD
EPHESIANS 6:12
12 For our struggle is not against
[a]flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the powers, against
the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of
wickedness in the heavenly places.
I. TURN TO GOD
PSALM 34:4-5
4 I sought the Lord and He
answered me, And rescued me
from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were
radiant,
And their faces will never be
ashamed..
II. TRUST HIS WORD
PSALM 56:4-7
4 In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put
my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere
[a]mortals do to me?
5 All day long they distort my words; All their
[b]thoughts are against me for evil.
6 They [c]attack, they lurk, They watch my [d]steps,
As they have waited to take my [e]life.
7 Because of their wickedness, will there be an
escape for them? In anger make the peoples fall
down, God!
II. TRUST HIS WORD
Joshua 21:45
45 Not [a]one of the good
promises which the Lord
had [b]made to the house
of Israel failed; everything
came to pass.
III. TRUST HIS CHARACTER

8 You have taken account of my [a]miseries;
Put my tears in Your bottle.
Are they not in Your book?

when I call;
This I know, [b]that God is for me.
10 In God, whose word I praise,
In the Lord, whose word I praise,
11 In God I have put my [c]trust, I shall not be
afraid.
What can mankind do to me?
III. TRUST HIS CHARACTER
Romans 8:31-32
31 What then shall we say to
these things? If God is for
us, who is against us? 32 He
who did not spare His own
Son, but delivered Him over
for us all, how will He not
also with Him freely give us
all things?
III. THANK HIM IN ADVANCE

me, God;

III. THANK HIM IN ADVANCE
Ecclesiastes 5:4-5
4 When you make a vow to
God, do not be late in paying
it; for He takes no delight in
fools. Pay what you vow! 5 It
