“The 7 Great Promises Of God”

May 9, 2021
Promise;
a declaration or assurance that one will do
a particular thing or that guarantees that a
particular thing will happen
I. THE PROMISE OF PARDON:

God has promised that His grace is sufficient for us.

I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive

us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.
Acts 2:38 “Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of
you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”).
II. THE PROMISE OF PRESERVATION:

God has promised that those who believe in Jesus will be saved.
Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but
he who disbelieves will be condemned”.
In fact, He has made provision for our salvation by His grace
through faith.
Ephesians 2:8 “for by grace you have been saved through faith,
and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that
no one would boast”.
III. THE PROMISE OF PRESENCE:

God has promised us that He will be with us always.

Matt 28:20b “…and surely I am with you always, to the very end
of the age." NIV
God also promised that all things work together for good to those
who love and serve Him faithfully (Romans 8:28 “We know that
all things work together for good for those who love God, to
those who are called according to his purpose”).
IV. THE PROMISE OF PROVISION:

He has promised to supply every need we have.

The Bible says: Philippians 4:19 "But my God shall supply all
your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus".
God has obligated Himself only to the extent of our needs. That
would include food, clothing, shelter, companionship, love, and
salvation thru Jesus Christ.
It would not include the multiplicity of luxuries that we have come
to think of as needs.
V. THE PROMISE OF PERSEVERANCE:

God has promised that His children will not be overtaken with
temptation. Instead, He assures us that a way of escape will be
provided.
This promise is recorded in I Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has taken
you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you
to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also
make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it”.
Jude wrote: Jude 24 "God can guard you so that you don't fall and so that
you can be full of joy as you stand in his glorious presence without fault”.
VI. THE PROMISE OF POWER OVER DEATH:

God has promised us victory over death. He first

resurrected Jesus by way of assuring our resurrection.
I Cor. 15:57 “Death, where is your victory? Death, where
is your sting?" 56 Sin gives death its sting, and God's
standards give sin its power. 57 Thank God that he gives
us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”.
VII. THE PROMISE OF PERPETUITY:
God has promised His people eternal life
(John 10:27,28 “My sheep respond to my voice, and I
know who they are. They follow me, 7 and I give them
eternal life. They will never be lost, and no one will tear
them away from me”).
