RESULTS AND FINDINGS
Based on the data being analyzed by the researchers, there were 166 total occurrences of code-

switching done by the Karen Davila during her interviews in the ANC’s Headstart. Intra-sentential code-

switching was the most frequent type recorded in the data analyzed with a total of 92 occurrences, tag-

switching code switching with 68 occurrences was the second, and the Inter-sentential code-switching

was the least frequent with only 6 occurrences. In the data analyzed, the strategies of code-switching are

easily inserted in a sentence made in L2 (English). On the other hand, given the fact that the discourse

setting is an all-news network in English language and L2 (English) should be the priority language.
RESEARCH PROCEDURE
The study will investigate the code-switching strategies of Karen Davila
through the research procedures below:

Step 1 •Seeking Permission for the Conduct of the Study

Step 2 •Retrieving the Corpora of the Study

Step 3 •Analyzing the Corpus of the Study

Step 4 •Describing and Interpreting Results

•Subjecting the Analysis for Review and

Step 5
Validation
DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
• Gathering of the five interviews of Karen Davila
with the Philippine Politicians and Government
Officials.
• The researchers will use the site of Presidential
Communications Operations Office and “Temi”
website for the video transcription.

• In collecting the data, the researchers will create a

criterion that would be the basis of selecting this
information.
• The interviews should
consist the switching of
Karen Davila from one
language to another.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

• The researchers will perform honesty with a

facilitation of the evaluation of an evidence-based
knowledge claim.
• The interview videos are available publicly, thus, it
does not harm or infringe the sources.
• The researchers will attempt to be transparent about
the research process and openly describe all research
standpoints as partly introduced by the theoretical
lenses of this study.
