INTRODUCTION
Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into
electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), indirectly
using concentrated solar power, or a combination. Concentrated
solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and solar tracking
systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam.
Photovoltaic cells convert light into an electric current using the
photovoltaic effect.
How a
Photovoltaic
Cell Works ?
A photovoltaic cell is made of
semiconductor materials that absorb the
photons emitted by the sun and generate a
flow of electrons.

SOLAR PANELS

The term solar panel is used

colloquially for a photo-
voltaic (PV) module.
INVERTER

■ The working principle of the inverter

is to use the power from a DC Source
such as the solar panel and convert it
into AC power. The generated power
range will be from 250 V to 600 V.
… When these solid-state devices are
connected in the form of H-Bridge,
then it oscillates from the DC power
to AC power
CONTROLLER

■ The power plant controller

(PPC) facilitates
comprehensive regulation of
active and reactive power as
well as the voltage of
heterogeneous PV systems. A
high-accuracy power quality
analyzer records all grid
parameters during operation.
This enables fast and stable
control at the grid connection

BATTERIES

■ The higher your battery’s capacity,

the more solar energy it can store.
When you install a solar battery as
part of your solar panel system, you
are able to store excess solar
electricity at your home instead of
sending it back to the grid
Advantage Disadvantage

1. Renewable Energy Source 1. Cost

2. Weather Dependent
2. Reduces Electricity Bills
3. Solar Energy Storage Is Expensive
3. Diverse Applications
4. Uses a Lot of Space
4. Low Maintenance Costs 5. Associated with Pollution
Future scope

■ Generation of solar energy has tremendous scope in India. The geographical location of the
country stands to its benefit for generating solar energy. … Many large projects have been
proposed in India, some of them are: i). Thar Desert of India has best solar power projects,
estimated to generate 700 to 2,100 GW, ii).
■ Bhadla Solar Park – 2,250MW. Claimed to be The largest solar power plant in the world, the
Bhadla Solar Park is located in Bhadla village, in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district. …
■ Shakti Sthala solar power project – 2,050MW. …
■ Ultra Mega Solar Park – 1,000MW. …
■ Rewa Solar Power Project – 750MW. …
■ Kamuthi solar power plant – 648MW.
