Cube Numbers

What is a Cube Number?

● A Cube Number is a number multiplied by itself 3 times.

● This can also be called a “Number Cubed”.
● The symbol for cube is “ 3”
● In a cube number sequence, the terms are the cubes of
their position in the sequence. Therefore, a cube sequence
starts with “1, 8, 27, 64, 125…”
“1,8,27,64,125….”
13 = 1 x 1 x 1 = 1 43 = 4 x 4 x 4 = 64

23 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 53 = 5 x 5 x 5 = 125
33 = 3 x 3 x 3 = 27
Example:

3 cubed =

= 3 x 3 x 3 = 27
)

9 x3
Another Example:

63 = 6 x 6 x 6 73 = 7 x 7 x 7

36 x 6 = 216 49 x 7 = 343
Finding the Cube of a Negative Number
● The cube of a negative number will always be
negative, just like the cube of a positive number
will always be positive.

For Example:
-53 = -5 x -5 x -5 = (25 x -5) = -125
