2 MINS MAP In this virtual tour, I will introduce to you all the beautiful tangible cultural properties we have and what defines Cagwaitnon’s unique
GEOGRAPHICAL identity.
LOCATIONS However before anything else let me briefly tell you something about y beloved hometown. Lungsod nan Cagwait; is a 4th class
municipality in the province of Surigao del Sur, Philippines. It is about 32 kilometres (20 mi) southeast of Tandag, the capital town of
Surigao del Sur. It is bounded by the towns of Bayabas on the north, Marihatag on the south, the Diwata mountains on the west and the
Pacific Ocean in the east. It has a total land area of 21,410 hectares (52,900 acres). It has 11 barangays.
According to history, a young sailor from the Leyte province who escaped from the Spaniards noticed while passing the bay, a resemblance
of a human mouth and/or the esophagus which in he uttered “mao rag wait” in native dialect thus the establishment of its name, Cagwait.
CAGWAIT is known for its beautiful beaches, so we will be beach hopping-from the famous Boracay-like Cagwait Cove and at the same time
be amazed by the very unique festival held in the powdery shore. We will also satisfy our wanderlust in the transparent blue waters of
Arangasa Island, Bacolod Paradise Beach and Bitaugan Black beach. Then I’ll have you enchanted by the hundred year old avatar tree , the
mystical rock formations of Tawagan ,the excited giggles of Tagbalidbid Falls. Let us also journey back to the olden time as we gaze in awe
the strikingly tall structure of the Lighthouse and the crumbled pillars of The Ruins. HANDA KA NA BA?

From the dreamy waves of sea, let us now move on to Tgbalidbid Fall which is found in Purok 3B La Purisima of Cagwait. Tagbalidbid
waterfalls is a source of endless fascination, It has an aquarium blue-water,drizzling onto the rocks and tumbling down the mountain.
We are now on our next destination. Cagwait has this treasure: an island so small, yet with such a magnificent view that combines the
beauty of coco trees and the ocean. With not much of handy work done by developers, these islands maintain their natural form.
Sorrounding the island , is a preserved Mangrove forest considered as fish sanctuary . In the water exists the aqua world, where millions
of fish swim around freely for their home is like paradise. Moreover, the coral reef right in front of the beach provides shelter to the fish
and spectacular scene for the swimmers and divers. The island is aperfect island getaway for those who want to escape the city.
Found in this island also is the 100-year old Arangasa Lighthouse which was built in 1916. It is located on the East side of the beach.
Finally, we are on our last stop here at Aras-asan Port- a 686, 114 square meter ship port that served as a harbour or a shelter to numerous
boats and vessels. Executive Order No.109 declaring the port as Aras-asan Port Zone was signed by the then president Benigno Aquino
