Be Going to…
Use:
To speak about future, personal plans.
Examples:
I’m going to visit Valencia tomorrow.
He isn’t going to sail next month.
Are we going to leave soon?
Present Continuous
(with future meaning)
Uses:
• Plans which are 100% sure
• Future arrangements/meetings with
people
• Examples:
We’re eating spaghetti tonight
I’m seeing the doctor at 2.30 on Friday
WILL / WON’T
Uses:
• Future predictions/forecasts
• Spontaneous decisions
• Promises
• Examples
It will be warm and sunny tomorrow.
I’m cold. I’ll turn up the heating.
I promise I will finish my homework.
Present Simple
(with future meaning)
Use:
To speak about future timetables /
scheduled actions
Examples:
My train leaves at 10.00 am next Saturday
His flight arrives tomorrow at 6.00 pm.
Our next English lesson is on Friday.
The Future Continuous
