INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS PETROLEUM

?
 Naturally occurring liquid found beneath the
Earth’s surface that can be refined into fuel.
 Formed in sedimentary rock under intense
heat and pressure.
EXPLANATION OF PETROLEUM
The extraction and processing of petroleum drive the world economy
and global politics.
Most often associated with crude oil and the wells dug into the
ground to bring that liquid to the surface.
Comprised of a mixture of various hydrocarbons, and can have
different chemical and physical properties depending on where it is
found in the world.
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
ADVANTAGES
It can produce a large amount of energy.
It's technology and infrastructure are already in place.
It can be used in a wide range of applications.
DISADVANTAGES

It can lead to environmental pollution.

It's sources are finite.
It can be harmful to health.
USES OF PETROLEUM
Petroleum products include transportation
fuels, fuel oils for heating and electricity
generation, asphalt and road oil, and
feedstocks for making the chemicals,
plastics, and synthetic materials that are in
nearly everything we use.

CONCLUSION
 Petroleum has several advantages and
disadvantages, and governments,
scientists, and ordinary people should
