SQUARE PYRAMID

MOOG, JACKQUELYN J.
 A square pyramid is a three-
dimensional geometric shape
that has a square base and
four triangular bases that are
joined at a vertex.

 A square pyramid is a
polyhedron (pentahedron)
with five faces

TROPHY

CANDLE
Problem:
Jackie receives a prize at a science fair for having the
most informative project. Her trophy is in the shape of
a square pyramid that measures 10 cm on each side on
each side and a slant height of 12 cm.

A. Find the volume of Jackie's Trophy?

B. If Jackie wanted to covered it in shiny gold foil, how

much gold foil did it take to cover the trophy including
the bottom part?
FORMULA:
Volume = 1/3 × [Base
Area] × Height
Example: 12 cm

Find the volume

square pyramid.
10cm
10cm
Given:
Length of the base A=10cm
Height= 12cm

Volume of square pyramid

1/3 x basearea x height

A= side²
=10x10= 100

V=1/3(100)(12)
V=1/3(1200)
V=400 cm²
Formula:
Surface Area = [Base
Area] + 1/2 × Perimeter ×
[Slant Length]
Example:
Find the surface
12 cm

area.

10cm 10cm
Surface Area 4 Side faces are triangles
Height= 12cm 4 x 65= 260 cm²
5cm
Base= 10cm
10cm

S²= 12²+5² half of 10cm The area of base is

S²=144+25 10x10= 100 cm²
S²= √169
S²= 13 cm
Hence,13
surface area
10cm
A= 1/2 x basearea x height 260cm+100cm
= 1/2 (10) (13) =360cm²
= 130/2
= 65cm²
