1. Discuss how business analytics can be used in any industry- say banking, retail and

pharma.

Identify as many opportunities as you can.


■ Every company has its own past data the industry doesn’t matter every industry provides some
data in it, these business analytics analysis the data and help the company to over come their
past mistakes and also helps to implement new strategies into their business and helps the
company to get profits.

■ These business analytics makes data driven decisions which can help the financial and
technical and marketing problems of the company.

■ Business analytics gives business an excellent overview and insight on how companies can
become more efficient, also these people can help the company or to achieve immediately,
these people minimise the risks of the organisation or a company.
2. Suggest some metrics that a hotel might want to collect about their guests. How might

these metrics be used with business analytics to support decisions at the hotel?

■ The following are some of the metrics that a hotel might collect about its guests : Their
addresses, age, gender, where they're coming from, where they'll be going after they check out,
and what they're there for.
■ The sort of room that the guest has requested. This will assist the hotel in determining the types of
rooms it should have.
■ The number of guests that wished to stay at the hotel but were unable to get the type of
accommodation they requested. This will help the hotel determine whether or not it should give
the guest an alternative type of room at the same or cheaper price.
■ The number of people who visit the hotel on a daily basis. On important occasions, there may be
additional guests. As a result, separate and unique rooms will be required.Guest Preferences in
Food, Cleanliness, and Professional Services - Hotels can take advantage of their visitors'
preferences in food, cleanliness, and professional services.
■ Guests can also recommend ways to improve the hotel's overall marketability, such as rooms and
spas, as well as pick which amenities to keep, upgrade, and build.
3. Suggest some metrics that a railway or bus-ticketing agency might want to collect.

Describe how a manager might utilize this data to facilitate better decisions.

The manager can analyze the data to figure out which is the most acquainted station as well as which is the
age group that travels the most via bus.

and how to schedule agents.

not overlap .

B] Age –Ratio because it has a natural zero value ,and is continuous if you measure it accurately
.

C] Ethnicity - Nominal because it a qualitative data and can be categorized into different groups.

D] Length of Residency – Interval data as it has arbitrary zeroes values.

E] Overall Satisfaction with city services - Ordinal Scale because it is measured on scale of 1 – 5.

F] Quality of schools - Ordinal Scale because it is measured on scale of 1 – 5.
