Lesson 5

Why Isn't Life Fair?

Because of Injustice

Why doesn't our loving God

punish sin immediately?
How Does 1 Corinthians 13:4
answer this question?
Because of Injustice

“Love is patient and kind.....”

1 Cor 13:4
2 Peter 3:9
Because of Injustice

What does Daniel 12:2

remind us about God's
justice?
Because of Injustice

Dan 12:2 "And many of those

who sleep in the dust of the
earth shall awake, some to
everlasting life, and some to
shame and everlasting
contempt.

2 Peter 2:9
Acts 24:15
Because of Injustice

Our bodies will one day return

to the earth.
Whatever appeases our bodies
is only temporary.
Because of Injustice

We are different than animals

because God has set eternity in
our hearts. What does God tell
us in Hebrews 9:27 about life
and death?
Because of Injustice

“It is appointed for man to

die once, and after that come
judgment.”

Unlike animals we will be

judged
Because of Injustice

Man was created different

than animals. When we
forget this we act more like
animals than like our creator.
What does Genesis 1:27 say
about the difference?
Because of Injustice

“So God created man in his

own image, in the image of
God he created him; male
and female he created
them.”

Romans 1:25
Because of Injustice

-Since life is short we should

enjoy the fruits of our labor,
we can't come back to enjoy
it later.
Because of Injustice

-Don't let injustice make you

bitter and miserable. If you
do we will be like what
person described in Job
21:25?
Because of Injustice

Job 21:25, “Another person,

never having tasted
happiness dies with a bitter
soul.”
Life isn't fair because of
injustice and...Because of
oppression.
Because of Oppression

Solomon says that he has seen

all the oppression under the
sun. In this world sometimes
the wicked prosper, but what
did the psalmist come to
understand when he went into
the sanctuary of God in Psalm
73:17?
Because of Oppression

“When I went into the sanctuary

of God then I discerned their
end.”
Psalm 73:17

Mark 8:36
Life isn't fair because of
Injustice, oppression
and....the rat race
Because of the “rat race”

Many people work hard motivated

by envy. They neglect family and
meaningful relationships. Solomon
is not saying that we should not
work, just not be obsessed with it.
What does Solomon write about the
person on the other end of the
spectrum in 4:5?
Because of the “rat race”

“The fool folds his hands and eats

his own flesh.”

It is better to have less stuff and

enjoy life more.

1 Timothy 5:8
Because of the “rat race”

You only need three things in life to

be happy.

1. Someone to love
2. To be loved
3. To have a purpose
Because of the “rat race”

Solomon wrote, “Two are better

than one, because they have a
good reward for their toil”
Personalize and write out verse 10
in your own words
Because of the “rat race”

“If I fall one will lift me up, but woe

to me if I am alone when I fall and
there is no one there to lift me up.”
Because of the “rat race”

“If two lie together they keep warm,

but how can one keep warm alone?
And though a man might prevail
against one who is alone, two will
withstand him-a threefold cord is
not quickly broken.
Life isn't fair because of injustice in
the world, oppression, the “rat
race” and...Because not everyone
will like you.
Not Everyone will like you

Solomon writes it is better to be a

poor and wise youth than an old
foolish king who refuses to take
advice. Everyone admires a youth
in his success. However what does
4:16 declare?
Not everyone will like you

“There was no end of all the

people, all of whom he led. Yet
those who come later will not
rejoice in him. Surely this also is
vanity and a striving after wind.”
Not everyone will like you

You can't please everybody, if you

try you will be miserable. We
should live the life that God wants
us to live and let the chips fall
where they may. How does Col 1:10
describe what this means?
Not everyone will like you

“So as to walk in a manner worthy

of the Lord, fully pleasing to him,
bearing fruit in every good work
and increasing in the knowledge of
God.”
Colossians 1:10

Gal 1:10
