Making Every Day Meaningful

Making Every Day Meaningful

Realize that death is inevitable

(Ecc 9:1-6)

“… it is appointed for man to die

once, and after that comes
judgment”
Hebrews 9:27
Realize that death is inevitable

“We begin to live when we come to

grips with the reality of our own
death.”

In Adam all die...( 1 Cor 15:22)

Realize that death is inevitable

The worlds view of death

1. Deny it (avoid talking about it)

2. Defy it (attempt to live forever

cover up all signs of aging)
Realize that death is inevitable

The Christians view of death

1. Caused by Adams sin.

in Adam all die, even so in Christ

shall all be made alive. 1 Cor 15:22
Realize that death is inevitable

The Christians view of death

2. Death is not the end but a step

into eternity
Realize that death is inevitable

The worlds view of death causes

them to live everyday for self
enjoyment.

The Christian view of death causes

them to live everyday for Christ. To
live with the end in view.
Realize that death is inevitable

How does the Bible describe the

death of Abraham in Genesis 25:8?
Realize that death is inevitable

“Abraham breathed his last and died

in a good old age, an old man and
full of years, and was gathered to his
people.”
Realize that death is inevitable

“It is the same for all, since the same

event happens to the righteous and
the wicked.”
(Ecc 9:2)

Whether we are good or bad death

awaits us. This is reminiscent of
what fact in 2 Samuel 14:14?
Realize that death is inevitable

“We must all die, we are like water

spilled on the ground, which cannot
be gathered up again.”
Realize that death is inevitable

“But he who is joined with all the

living has hope, for a living dog is
better than a dead lion”
(Ecc 9:4)

Where there is life there is hope!

Realize that death is inevitable

“For the living know that they will

die, but the dead know nothing, and
they have no more reward, for the
memory of them is forgotten.”
(Ecc 9:5)
Realize that death is inevitable

Solomon is telling us that we

should take advantage of every
opportunity because death will
bring an end to all opportunities

How does Ephesians 5:16

reiterate this principle?
Realize that death is inevitable

“making the best use of the

time, because the days are evil”.
Recognize Opportunities to
enjoy life (9:7-10)

God created us to enjoy Life!

John 10:10
John 15:11
Recognize Opportunities to
enjoy life

Solomon is not encouraging us

to be alcoholics. We know this
by what he wrote in Proverbs
20:1.
Recognize Opportunities to
enjoy life

“Wine is a mocker, strong drink

a brawler, and whoever is led
astray by it is not wise”
Recognize Opportunities to
enjoy life

1Ti 6:17 As for the rich in this

present age, charge them not to
be haughty, nor to set their
hopes on the uncertainty of
riches, but on God, who richly
provides us with everything to
enjoy.
Recognize Opportunities to
enjoy life

The Hebrew word for “Eden”

means delight. God created the
world for us to enjoy!

Therefore how does Psalm 16:11

read?
Recognize Opportunities to
enjoy life

“You make known to me the

path of life; in your presence
there is fullness of joy; at your
right hand are pleasures
forevermore.”
Recognize Opportunities to
enjoy life

Phl 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord

always; again I will say, Rejoice.

Psa 118:24 This is the day that

the LORD has made; let us
rejoice and be glad in it.
Recognize Opportunities to
enjoy life

“Enjoy life with the wife whom

you love”

Don't allow problems of life keep

you from enjoying your family
Recognize Opportunities to enjoy
life

We only have one life to live, so

we should enjoy it! There will be
no planning or work in the grave

Therefore....
Recognize Opportunities to enjoy
life

We should be the best Father, Mother,

Wife, Husband, Grandfather,
Grandmother, Teacher, Employee
Today!!

This is basically obeying what

command in Colossians 3:23?
Recognize Opportunities to enjoy
life

“And whatsoever ye do, do [it]

heartily, as to the Lord, and not
unto men;”
Remember life is unpredictable
(9:11-18)

Regardless of our abilities or

efforts nothing is certain in life.
We are powerless over 95% of
what happens to us.

Therefore....
Remember life is unpredictable
(9:11-18)

When talking about the future

what does James 4:15 tell us to
say?
Remember life is unpredictable

“yet you do not know what

tomorrow will bring. What is your
life? For you are a mist that
appears for a little time and then
vanishes. Instead you ought to
say, "If the Lord wills, we will live
and do this or that.” (4:14-15)
