Contemplate Annual Yard & Project specific reviews
Quality evaluation of key yard production activities
The surveys conducted during a new
building/conversion project categorized as follows:
- Survey Cat1 - Statutory & Essential / Primary Systems for Safety
- Survey Cat2 - Main Systems / Functionally Important/ Special (For Main
& Additional Class Notations). Based on yard capability/experience.
- Survey Cat3 – Minimum attendance required by surveyor (i.e. Secondary
structures, some Cat 2 drill systems, commissioning of some systems
where integration testing is also carried out)
Objective is to contribute positively so that the project and all parties can succeed
While mindful of our obligation to be an independent third party
Main focus areas are related
- Main structures
- Life Saving (Equipment and Communication)
- Main & Emergency Power
- Stability (Structural Integrity and Water & Weather tight)
- Fire & Explosion (Pressurized Equipment/ Systems, Hydrocarbon Systems and ESD)
- Environmental.

Yard Work - Modus Operandi: Main tasks (3)
Evaluation of yard´s QC system
Welders and WPS verification and certification
NDT (procedures & operators verification)
Verify traceability of materials
Verify Certificates of equipment's and materials received at the construction site
Witnessing of some Production Tests
Carry out visual inspections of welding on critical joints.
Carry out Scheduled & Unscheduled Surveys
Provide list on findings through NPS (Nauticus Construction)
Approval of minors design alterations due to fabrication needs
Approval of “As-built” drawings
Attend Quality Meetings
First contact for answer queries from Yard & PNBV

Periodic Tripartite Quality Meetings
DNV to deliver List of Findings – “DNV Pendings”
Periodic Tripartite Pending Meetings
Yard to submit all required Quality Procedures for PMF’s verification
Yard to inform list and SoW of all subcontractors for DNV appraisal. Sub-contractors shall be
approved by DNV if not under the same QA/QC System of the Contractor (main site)
Milestone dates of project to be previously informed to DNV
- Attend essential meetings for Follow-up of DNV Comments & CMC Coordination
- This regular project meetings as agreed must be in a reasonable intervals; not every production/review
meeting
- DNV has launched a corporate program to reduce CO2 emissions through a policy of incentives for
videoconferencing, where possible, in place of physical meetings where flights are needed.
- Project Report that shows the project progress (Plan Approval; Site Survey & CMC to be
issued in a monthly basis)

Project Report
DNV will deliver monthly a managerial project report of easy understanding to EBR & PNBV describing the
DNV project progress
- Plan Approval Status
- DNV Comment Status (Plan Approval & Site Survey)
- Charts, photos & pictures showing the progress of Plan Approval and the survey development.
- Areas of Concern
The contractor shall provide all adequate safety measures to ensure a working
environment that is safe and in accordance with all relevant legislation whenever DNV
undertakes work at the contractor´s or sub-contractor´s sites.
It is the surveyor’s right and duty to evaluate the safety preparations before engaging in
any survey.
He may refuse the working condition proposed to him when considered by him to be
unsafe.
