WHAT DOES IT MEAN GENERALLY?

• Creating visual concepts, using computer software

or by hand, to communicate ideas that inspire,
inform, and captivate consumers. That includes the
development of the overall layout and production
design for applications such as advertisements,
brochures, magazines, and reports.
• Due to its interdisciplinary nature, graphic design
can be performed in different areas of application:
branding, technical and artistic drawing, signage,
photography, image and video editing, 3D
modeling, animation, programming, among other
fields.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN IN CONTEXT OF SOCIAL
MEDIA?
• Social media is a visual platform attracting graphic designers to show their
skills through its different features.
• Especially mentioning, Instagram and LinkedIn are the most used platforms by
graphic designers, generally working for themselves or hired by the
companies.
• This includes designing posts, reels, IGTV, stories, application letters, job offer
letters etc. for a given or chosen topic of focus.
 How are we using graphics in our ways?
• For our project- STREE AAROGYATA, currently we are making graphics
focusing the audience on social media platforms like Instagram (mainly),
Facebook and LinkedIn.
• Graphics are made for :

Stories- focusing on extra information and general awareness on women health.

Posts- according to the series of disease and disorders in context of women health generating
awareness.
Reels- related to posts and other information to generate awareness and bring more people to view our
project.
IGTV- focused more on special topics.
Highlight covers- According to the theme of page.
Selecting the theme-

• Theme of page is generally selected as patterns or colors. We decides to keep

the theme of the page according to the series. For each series we decide a color
which we try to follow throughout playing with the shades of the same color
family. For example: for anemia we had Red and peach, and for PCOS we had
pink theme.
• Reels are generally not generated in any particular theme.
• Stories are kept more interactive and informative rather than following any
theme.
• Highlights are kept pink mostly.
• No such pattern is followed on our page.

• When we look for health related posts, people generally prefer to look at
and present those graphics which are more neutral in tone, light to no
contrasting, pleasing to eyes, not bold and less intense.
• Thus, we try to use lighter, neutral or at least minimal colour contrast
for our posts which are of utmost focus for us.
• As discussed before, colour is decided for each disease or disorder in
focus. Not really the same colour is to be selected but the same colour
family is what we look for.
• If more brighter colours are supposed to be used, less contrast and use
of neutral text is preferred widely.
Text for the graphics-

• To make information look more authentic,

and focus of the graphic, texts are kept
more formal in general views. Mix of
different complementary fonts including
few calligraphic ones are quite a trend these
days.
• We make sure to keep the font non-chunky
and easy to read always. Recently, we did
hop on the trend of calligraphic fonts mixed
with others which turned out to be
amazing.
• Capital fonts for headings are more
attractive in nature.
Facts and Data representation-

• One of the most authentic way of spreading awareness is through giving out
proved facts and data.
• Use of charts, graphs, columns, rows, and percentage elements make it more
attractive for the audience and easy to understand as well.
Use of illustrations for graphics-

• Illustrations or simply
called cartoons can be
used to bring more
attention to the graphic
presented.
• Keep in mind to use the
illustration related to
your topic only.
• We have used
illustrations in most of
our graphics be it posts,
stories or reels.
Best apps to make graphics-
Summary
• Overall we got to know that graphics are all about attractive visuals. If
information is the focus, it should be represented creatively by using different
elements and not just simple textual forms.
• Graphics and elements used should match the theme and interest of the topic
in focus.
• Colours should be according to the functionality. If the focus is more fun
related- brighter colours and if the focus is more informative and pleasant-
neutral and light tones should be selected.
• Use of different complementary texts, elements like graphs, charts, colour
contrast within the same colour family can be used.
