Basic Concept of Educational

Technology.
Presentaion by Camelle Albarico
Educational Technology: An Overview

 Educational technology is a field of study that

investigates the process of analyzing, designing,
developing, implementing, and evaluating the
instructional environment and learning materials in
order to improve teaching and learning. It is
important to keep in mind that the purpose of
educational technology is to improve education.
Some examples of basic concept educational
technology?

 Today, there is growing excitement around the

potential for assistive technology, virtual and
augmented reality, high-tech collaboration tools,
gamification, podcasting,blogging, 3D printing
artificial intelligence,personalized learning and
much more.
Virtual and augmented reality

 Virtualand augmented reality - Augmented reality

(AR) adds digital elements to a live view often by
using the camera on a smartphone. Virtual reality
(VR) implies a complete immersion experience that
shuts out the physical world.
High-tech collaboration tools

 High-tech collaboration tools - Collaboration tools

can be either of a non-technological nature such
as paper, flipcharts, post-it notes or whiteboards.
Gamification

 Gamification - Gamification is the strategic attempt

to enhance systems, services, organisations, and
activities in order to create similar experiences to
those experienced when playing games in order to
motivate and engage users.
Podcasting

 Podcasting - is an episodic series of spoken word

digital audio files that a user can download to a
personal device for easy listening.
Blogging

 Blogging - Displaying information in reverse

chronological order, with the latest posts appearing
first, at the top. It is a platform where a writer or a
group of writers share their views on an individual
subject.
3D printing

 3Dprinting - 3D printing, also known as additive

manufacturing, is a method of creating a three
dimensional object layer-by-layer using a computer
created design.
Artificial intelligence

 Artificial
intelligence - The theory and
development of computer systems able to perform
tasks that normally require human intelligence,
such as visual perception, speech recognition,
decision-making, and translation between
languages.
Personalize learning

 Personalize learning - Personalized learning is an

educational approach that aims to customize
learning for each student's strengths, needs, skills,
and interests. Each student gets a learning plan
that's based on what they know and how they learn
best.
Advantages

 Technology in the classroom not only serves to keep

students engaged and excited in class, but it also
revitalizes conventional learning experiences. Our society
is growing increasingly reliant on technology, and having a
solid understanding of basic technical gadgets and their
applications is essential for students to succeed in primary
and secondary school. Having access to technology can
assist students in learning to research things that they are
interested in. Information was not as easily available in
previous generations, therefore students needed to rely
on traditional resources. now, on the other hand, students
have access to a vast amount of information.
Disadvantages

 Ifsuitable security measures are not in place,

computers can give students with access to
inappropriate content or information.
Students who spend more time on electronics may
spend less time socializing with their classmates,
which can have an impact on their social and
emotional development. Many technology-based
games and activities are "pre-made," allowing
users to finish activities without having to think of
new methods to solve problems.
