Exceptions
 The question tag for the sentence
begins with I am is “aren’t I”
Example:

◇ I am late, aren’t I?
◇ I am in 2021, aren’t I?

 The question tag for a negative
imperative is “will you”
Example:

◇ Don’t forget to lock the door, will you?

◇ Don’t touch me, will you?

 After let’s… we use “shall we”
Example:

◇ Let’s go for a walk, shall we?

◇ Let’s go swimming, shall we?

 Sentences containing negative words
like hardly, never, none, nobody and
barely are followed by “positive tag”
Example:

◇ You never call your grandma, do you?

◇ Nobody will know it, will they?

 In question tags referring to nothing and
everything we use “it”
Example:

◇ Everything is okay, isn’t it?

◇ Nothing will change, will it?

 In question tags referring to nobody,
somebody, everybody, we use “they”
Example:

◇ Nobody lived here, did they?

◇ Somebody knocked the door,
didn’t they?

 In the sentence containing auxiliary, use
“the same auxiliary” for its question tag.
Example:

◇ She had finished the test, hadn’t she?

◇ We must leave this haunted house, mustn’t
