PLANTS LIFE’S

SPAN WITHOUT
WATER
Abstract
In this experiment, life span of a 3 kinds of plants were
determine for about 8 days, for those people who are lazy
or busy to water there plants. The plants were place under
the heat of the sun but before that , the researchers water
the plants for about 1 cup of water. In the experiment the
gabi-gabi is the only plant that was not able to survive
due to the lack of water. The magay-magay and cactus
were more immune without water for were able to survive
days without water. The gabi-gabi plant was not able to
survive because it is mostly planted in wetland, so they
are not capable to live in not dry and no water places. The
magay-magay and cactus plants are best plant for those
people who are lazy or busy to water there plants based
on observation from this experiment.
Introduction
There are more than 350,000 species of plants on earth. Plants are the living
organism that typically growing in a permanent site, absorbing water and inorganic
substances through it’s roots. They play a critical role in our ecosystem for they produce
oxygen which human and animals need.
Nowadays, some people are so lazy and some are too busy with there work so they
don’t have much time to water their plants which could cause plants to die.
We choose 3 kinds of plants that we commonly see inn our surroundings, the cactus,
gabi-gabi (taro) and magay-magay (maguey). A cactus is a cactus is a succulent adapted
to dry, desert-like conditions. Most cactus store moisture in their stems rather than in
thick, fleshy leaves like other succulents. Gabi-gabi or taro are rich in minerals and
vitamins, making them a good source of riboflavin, phosphorus, zinc, iron and vitamin C.
the magay-magay or maguey are succulents with a large rosette of thick flesh leaves, with
most species ending a sharp terminal spine. The stout stem is usually short ,the leaves
apparently springing from the root, this species are popular ornamental plants in hot and
dry places as they require very little water to survive.
We came up with this idea because we want to know what is the best among the
three, for those people who are. lazy or busy to water their plants.

Materials and Method
Plants life span were determined for
about 8 days. In order to do this the
researchers gather 3 kinds of plants which
are the cactus, gabi-gabi and magay-magay.
The researchers place it under the heat of
the sun and water it for about 1 cup or
water. Then the researchers observe it for
about 8 days.
Results
In the experiment the gabi-gabi was
the only plant that was not able to
survive due to the lack of water. The
magay-magay and cactus were more
immune without water for they were
able to survive for days without water.

Discussion
In the experiment the gabi-gabi was the only plant that was
not able to survive, this was probably due to the lack of water,
and most of the gabi-gabi plants grow in wetland so they are
not capable to live in hot, dry and no water places. It is easy to
determine whish plant will survive because there is a cactus. A
cactus is adapted in dry, desert-like places, so it is already
expected that the cactus will survive. In this experiment the
magay-magay plant is not expected to survive because of its
thick flesh leaves that fight from the heat of the sun to survive,
also it require only small amount of water to live. The magay-
magay and cactus are the best plants for those people who are
lazy or busy to water there plants, based on the observation
from this experiment.
