MUSIC OF

MINDORO
Mindoro is an island located at
southwestern Luzon and it is composed of
two provinces; Occidental Mindoro and
Oriental Mindoro and tagalog is the main
language of Mindoro.
TRIBES FOUND IN MINDORO ARE THE
FOLLOWING:

1. Ratagnon- A tribe occupying the southernmost


tip of Mindoro
2. Alangan- A group that occupies the northern part
of both Oriental and Occidental Mindoro.
3. Iraya- a group of people based in the upland part
of Nortwest Mindoro.
TYPES OF VOCAL MUSIC IN MINDORO:

1.Iyaya- Lullaby
2.Ayung or Ngayung- Ritual Chant
3.Marayaw- Spirit Song
4.Pamuybuyen- means fear of water.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC OF
MINDORO

1. Lantoy- A tiny flute that can be played either by nose


or mouth.
2. Agung Ensemble
Consists of two light gongs played by two men squatting on
the floor.
3. Bangsi
External pipe flute
4. Budyung- a bamboo trumpet
5. Pituh
A flute that is diatonically tuned with fingerholes but no
thumb hole.
6. Gitgit
A three-stringed indigenous violin with human hair as strings.
7. Kudyapi- a kind of lute
