Half-width slot number Full-width slot number (1) Full-width slot number (2)

Eight full-width or sixteen half-width compute nodes can be installed in front slots.
Numbering rules for slots of full-width compute nodes based on compute node types are as follows:
Slot numbers of the CH240, CH242, CH242 V3 in ascending order: 1–8. The CH24X series is not recommended.
Slot numbers of the CH220, CH221, CH222 in ascending order: 9–16. Full-width compute nodes of the CH220, CH221 and
CH222 are expanded from half-width compute nodes of the CH121. The CH222 V3 is used as the management node FS. Half-
width slots use CH121 V3, CH121H V3, or CH121 V5.

CX920: Multi-Plane Switch Module
The CX920 switch module (referred to as CX920) is the switching control unit that provides data
switching for server blades and provides external service and management ports in a centralized manner.
The 10GE and 40GE switching planes are physically isolated from each other and work independently.
The 10GE switching plane connects to the LOMs of blades (Currently only the CH121H V3 server
supports LOMs). The 40GE switching plane connects to mezzanine card 1 or 2 of blades.
The CX920s are installed in the rear slots of the E9000 chassis. They are installed in slots 2X and 3X. If
they are installed in slots 1E and 4E, the 10GE switching plane is unavailable. Through the E9000
chassis backplane, the CX920s are connected to the compute nodes, storage nodes, and management
modules to implement switching for internal data packets and management packets, providing high-
speed data transmission for users.

The CX920 logical architecture consists of four modules: baseboard management controller (BMC)
module, CPU system module, 10GE switch module, and 40GE switch module, as shown in the figure on
the left. The BMC powers on and off nodes and modules, monitors the system, and upgrades
components.
The CPU system module is the controlling core for the CX920. It processes network protocol packets and
manages user configuration.
The 10GE and 40GE switch modules are the data processing core of the CX920. They forward data
between internal data processing modules and external network devices.

 FusionSphere requires three controllers nodes (FS-Control) and these nodes span on three blades that function as management nodes. Management VNFs, such as the CloudOpera CSM
and U2000, are deployed on the management nodes.
 The Base planes of both management and service nodes use the OVS networking. The eFabric plane of the management nodes uses the OVS networking while that of service nodes use the
SR-IOV networking.

 FusionSphere requires three controllers nodes (FS-Control) and these nodes span on three blades that function as management nodes. Management VNFs, such as the CloudOpera CSM and
U2000, are deployed on the management nodes.
 The Base planes of both management and service nodes use the OVS networking. The eFabric plane of the management nodes uses the OVS networking while that of service nodes use the
SR-IOV networking.

RH2288H V3 or 2288H V5 Physical Networking
The RH2288H V3 or 2288H V5 uses four NICs (one onboard NIC
and three PCIe NICs):
1. Onboard NIC (2 x 10GE): is used to transmit NFVI management
and storage traffic (integration of NFVI management and
storage is recommended in the version) and provides external
ports to connect to the NFVI management and storage TOR
(CE6855).
2. PCIe1 (2 x 10GE): is reserved for storage in NFVI management
and storage separation scenarios and provides external ports to
connect to the storage TOR (CE6855). For example, the NIC is
used at China Mobile and China Unicom sites.
3. PCIe2 (2 x 10GE): is used for service east-west traffic. The
vFabric and vBase traffic of apps is connected to the service
TOR (CE6855) through the external port.
4. PCIe3 (2 x 10GE): is used for service north-south traffic. The
external service port of apps and O&M traffic are connected to
the service TOR (CE6855) through the external port.
5. 2288 hardware management is connected to the TOR (CE5855)
through the management network port.
6. The NFVI management TOR, storage TOR, service TOR, and
device management TOR are connected to the EOR
(CE12804S or CE12808S).
