Water scarcity
what is water scarcity?
Water scarcity is the lack of
freshwater resources to meet the
standard water demand. Water
scarcity can also be caused by
droughts, lack of rainfall, or
pollution. This was listed in 2019 by
the World Economic Forum as one of
the largest global risks in terms of
potential impact over the next
decade.
what is physical water
scarcity
Physical water scarcity can often occur
when and where there is not enough water
to meet both human demands and those of
ecosystems to function effectively. Arid
regions can constantly suffer from physical
water scarcity. It also occurs where water
seems abundant, but resources are over-
committed. This can happen where there is
overdevelopment of hydraulic
infrastructure, often for irrigation or energy
generation. Symptoms of physical water
scarcity are severe environmental
degradation, declining

scarcity lack of investment in [water]
infrastructure or insufficient human
capacity to satisfy the demand of water in
areas where the population cannot afford
to use an adequate source of water.

people often having to fetch water from
rivers or lakes for domestic and
agricultural uses (irrigation). Although

water sources for drinking and domestic
purposes,
Solutions:-

• Translate handouts for parents for whom English is a second language.

• Handouts might include:

o A list of school phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and Web site addresses.
o Copies of classroom and school policies.
o A list of materials that the student will need for class.
conclusion
• Water scarcity is not a problem that is
limited to an area or a country. This is
a global problem as are the causes.
Pollution, water wastage, and the
growing population continue to be the
prime causes of water scarcity. The
effects of which will eventually affect
us all. We must, thus, make sure that
we try to implement the solutions
provided above to the best of our
ability.
