GRAMMAR REVIEW
• Expressing intention has the meaning of expressing intent, hope or intention.   This
expression includes an expression that has never happened because this expression is
still in the form of a plan or hope.  To express an intention, the simple future tense is
usually used.
Eg:
• He will  (Dia akan)
• I am going to (aku akan melakukan)
• I am planning to  (Aku berencana untuk)
• I am thinking of  (Aku memikirkan tentang)
• I fully intended to  (Aku sangat ingin melakukan)
• May be I will  (Mungkin aku akan)
• I would like to  (aku ingin melakukan)
Here are the forms of expressing intention that can be used to express intention or do
something.
> Be + planning to + simple verb
• She is planning to go swimming in the public pool next week.
• Are you planning to run away from here?
> Be + planning on + Ving
I am planning on fixing my dad’s old car tomorrow.
Are you planning on playing video games this weekend?
> Will  + Simple verb
I will make my birthday cake at home.
Will you attend his birthday party tonight?
Will you marry me?
> Would prefer + Ving + to + Ving
• I would prefer buying instant food to making a food at home.
> Intend to + simple verb
• I intend to visit my grandmother this week.
> Hope to + Simple verb
• We hope to see you again soon.
> Want to + Simple verb
• Me and my sister want to bake a cake for my mom’s birthday
> Would rather + Simple V+ than +SimpleV
•  I would rather bring my own food than buy food in the restaurant.
• Would you rather buy a new book or buy the old one?
> Be going to + SimpleV
• I am going to my friend’s house tonight.
• Are you going to join me in a music contest?
• They are going to go to Bali next year.
• We are going to play basketball in three days.

Santi : So, what about you Bayu? Do you have any plans?
Bayu : Definitely. My dad and I are going to go fishing. We
plan to go fishing in a lake near my uncle's house. Would you
like to come with us?
Santi : I dont really like fishing. I would rather stay at home
than go fishing.
Bayu : What about you, Riri? What would you like to do on the
long weekend?
Riri : I have made a plan with my mother about what to do on
this long weekend. We are going to practice baking cookies.
• Bayu : Are you going to bake choco chips cookies like the other day.?
• Riri: Well, yes. That is my favorite. But we are going to try to make
ginger cookies too.
• Riri : Oh, would you like to join me to learn baking cookies? You can
come to my house.
• Bayu : It's a good idea! Or will you go fishing with me and my dad?
