LET’S UNDERSTAND HR
• For many years business leaders and HR professionals have struggled to
agree what exactly the role of human resources in the company .
• Strange !
• Let’s understand why HR is so important but still debatable.
• To understand the mystery of HRM let’s project ourselves into the
middle ages when once upon a time…
STORY
• A man discovered a sight surrounded with plenty of woods rocks, rivers.
(Market place)
• The resources to build a successful business were right there.
• His business plan was to build a castle.
• He has the money and plenty of ideas.
• He is now a CEO.

• Soon he needs help to execute his plan of building a magnificent castle.
• These people are the pioneers, the first employees.
• The company is in startup mode employees are motivated and exited.
• At every success employees are invited to celebrate.
• They feel recognized and rewarded

• The castle progresses and CEO becomes busy with various business
issues. He needs more people so delegated recruitment to others.
• New employees and managers have now been hired. They brings in new
habits and new culture to.
• Some first generation employees were less enthusiastic now.
• One day two employees worked side by side and trained together made a
curious discovery.

• One said I am tired now . I an going on a picnic in my new Car.
• New car? Said the other. How come you have a new Car and I am
riding a bicycle. ( inconsistency revealed)
• Complaint ended up on CEO’S desk along with many others like
• Why he has bigger office.
• He have a laptop and I am working on desktop.
• Why does he has a high bonus etc.. .

• Now CEO has very little time to look into such matters. But he started to
realise that without a proper framework company could not be managed
now.
• People want to know why there are inconsistency everywhere.
• So he hired a manager to look into such issues related with people in the
organization. This manager is known as HR manager.
HR MANAGER IS..
A line manager like any other managers. He is hired to acquire expertise in
the field of
• Organization design and resourcing
• Performance management.
• Competence management.
• Reward management.
• Ensure consistency in policy implementation etc…..
