ABSTRACT

• Self inflating tyre system is an automatic mechanism for maintaining proper

level of pressure inside the vehicle tyres
• The main self inflating systems used are CTIS and TMS system
• The tire and wheel are mounted for rotation, and defining a cavity coaxial
with the axis of rotation of the wheel for housing the valve and related
components
• the solenoid being operatively connected to the poppet valve for axial
movement of the poppet valve between open and closed positions
INTRODUCTI
ON
• The aircraft tires are classified as Bias-ply tires, Radial tires, Tube-type tires
and Tubeless tires
• Centrifugal force, Heat generationTensile, Compression and Shear Forces are
the major factors affect the tyre performance
• Tire pressures are typically in the 200-psi range Pressure is impacted by
changes in ambient temperature. For each 5-deg. drop in temperature, a tire
loses 1% of its pressure
LITERATURE
REVIEW
• Types of tires and what are the forces act on the tires due the loading conditions.

• The pressure are typically in the 200 psi range a small devation can change huge
effect on the aircraft.- Under pressure impropercare of tires- Business & commercial
aircraft
• According to Hillier [1991] under inflation ‘or overloading leads to rapid wear on
each side of the tread and internal damage to the casing, whereas ‗over inflation‘
wears the centre of tread.
PROBLEM
IDENTIFICATION
• In main reason, for each 5 degree drop in temperature the tyre loses 1% of
pressure.
• Air is a combustion of gas that at low atmospheric temperature and pressure
can turn to ice inside the tires or under high temperatures and pressures even
explode
• Wheel slippage from low tire
• Thrown tread from heat build up
OBJECTIVES
• Systems monitor and continually adjust the level of pressurized air in tires,
maintaining proper tire inflation automatically even the flight operating
conditions
• Which saves time and labor while ensuring consistent and proper tire
inflation.
INFLATING GAS ?

• Nitrogen Gas
• Air is a combination of gasses that at low atmospheric
temperatures and pressure can turn to ice inside the tires or under
high temperatures and pressures even explode. Nitrogen is the
much safer choice to fill aircraft tires
EXPERIMENTAL DETAILS
• The major parts that are effectively employed in the design and the fabrication of the
AUTOMATIC TYRE INFLATION-DEFLATION SYSTEM are described below:

• Pressure switch, • Solenoid valve,

• Pressure gauge, • AC motor,
• Bearing with bearing cap, • Pulley,
• Wheel Arrangement, • Belt drive.
• Frame Stand, • Battery
• Quick joint coupling, • Dc compressor

OUR PROJECT MODEL
CONCLUSION

• In conclusion remarks of our project work, let us add a few more lines about
our impression project work. Thus we have developed an “AUTOMATIC
TYRE PRESSURE INFLATION-DEFLATION SYSTEM IN AIRCRAFT”
which helps to inflate the tyre automatically whenever necessary and thus
reduces human efforts. By using more techniques, they can be modified and
developed according to the applications.
FUTURE WORK ?

• Instead of using stored nitrogen gas for refill, we should take nitrogen from
the atm to directly refill the tyre
