Different kinds of Method of heat transfer

• Heat transfer is a discipline of thermal engineering that

concerns the generation, use, conversion, and exchange
of thermal energy (heat) between physical systems. Heat
transfer is classified into various mechanisms, such as
thermal conduction, thermal convection, thermal radiation,
and transfer of energy by phase changes. Engineers also
consider the transfer of mass of differing chemical
species, either cold or hot, to achieve heat transfer. While
these mechanisms have distinct characteristics, they
often occur simultaneously in the same system.
Heat transfer #1: HEAT CONVECTION
• Heat convection is the transfer of heat due to the bulk
movement of molecules within fluids, including molten
rock. Convection includes sub-mechanisms of advection,
and diffusion. Convection cannot take place in most solids
because neither bulk current flows nor significant diffusion
of matter can take place.
Heat transfer #2: HEAT CONDUCTION
• Heat conduction a.k.a (Thermal conduction) is the
transfer of internal energy by microscopic collisions of
particles and movement of electrons within a body. The
colliding particles, which include molecules, atoms and
electrons, transfer disorganized microscopic kinetic and
potential energy, jointly known as internal energy.
Heat transfer #3: Radiation
• Heat radiation a.k.a (Thermal radiation), process by which
energy, in the form of electromagnetic radiation, is emitted
by a heated surface in all directions and travels directly to
its point of absorption at the speed of light; thermal
radiation does not require an intervening medium to carry
it.
