04 Personal Opinion/Conclusion
My opinion of Bruno Mars’ music is that it is very enjoyable, as long as you
don’t listen to it too hard. It’s catchy, it’s boppy, it’s easy to groove to.
He’s a great stage performer when I’ve seen him on the Grammy’s or
similar. My problem with about half his songs — and I’m speaking of
the high airplay set as I don’t own any — is the lyrics.

It’s not that I’m picky about lyrics needing to have deep meaning, but I find
a lot of his lyrics express attitudes that I can’t empathize with in any
way, to the point where I find myself thinking “if I knew a person who
talked / thought like this, I wouldn’t want to spend any time with them.”
I know perfectly well that just because an artist performs a song doesn’t
mean that he necessarily believes in the sentiments of the lyrics, any
more than playing a serial killer makes an actor a psychopath in real life.
But it seems like it’s at least half of everything I’ve heard from him, and
it makes it really hard not to let it color my whole opinion.
