FUTURE

What are fossil fuels?
 Fossil Fuels are fuels formed by natural resources,
these fuels are formed in the Earth over millions of
years from decayed organisms and produce carbon
dioxide when burnt.
What are different types of fossil Fuels?

Coal, oil and natural gas.

How Coal is formed?
 Coal is formed over
millions of years by decay
of land vegetation. When
layers are compacted and
heated over
time, deposits turned
into coal.
Different stages of coal formation
How is oil formed?
 Oil is a liquid fossil fuel that is
formed from the remains of
marine microorganisms on the
sea floor.
After millions of years the
deposits end up in rock and
sediment where oil is trapped
in small spaces. It can be
extracted by large drilling
platforms
How is natural gas formed?
Natural gas is lighter than air.
Natural gas is mostly made up of
methane. Somewhere between
6,000 to 2,000 years BCE, the
first discoveries of natural gas
seeps was made in Iran. The gas
seeps, probably first ignited by
lightning, provided fuel for the
"eternal fires" of the fire-
worshiping religion of the
ancient Persians.
What are Refineries?

 Refineries are factories

that plan to separate the
various components
present in crude oil and
convert them into
usable products or
feedstock for other
processes.
FUTURE ASPECTS
Fossil fuels will still provide 60% of energy in 2040, renewable energy surpasses fossil
compared to 85% today, but the pattern of use will fuels for electricity generation shortly after 2030. Renewable
change, away from coal and towards gas, and energy then dominates electricity generation by the
increasingly concentrated in industry. 2050s.Renewable energy provides reliable power supplies and
fuel diversification, which enhance energy security, lower risk
of fuel spills, and reduce the need for imported
fuels. Renewable energy also helps conserve the nation's
natural resources.
