A question lead is a lead that gets the reader interested and gets pulled into your story by
asking them a question.
Example:
Do you know what sport this is when you have to glide on to the ice and balance
while you also do amazing tricks? Have you figured out the answer? Yes! You are
correct! The answer is ice-skating! Now, let me tell you a story about my ice-skating
adventure.

What is a sound effect lead?
A sound effect lead is a lead where you start your story with a lead that has a lot of sounds
to get the reader interested in your story and wants to read more.
Example:
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Emily got up and stretched in her bed. It was a nervous
morning for her because she had to give an interview. R-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-riiing!! All of her
phones rang and she became busy as an ant. Now, Let’s just move on to the story about
how she got this busy morning.

What is a talking lead?
A talking lead is a lead that starts your story out with lots of dialogue to get the reader
pulled and interested in your story.
Example:
“Cynthia, Wake up! You will be late for school!” her dad called. “ NO! NO! NO! NO!”
she groaned as she fell back to sleep. “ CYNTHIA! GET OUT OF BED!!!!!! YOU
ONLY HAVE TWO MORE MINUTES BEFORE YOUR BUS ARRIVES!!!!!!!” her
mom yelled furiously!! When she heard that, she straight away got ready. “NOOOOO!”
Cynthia missed her bus.
