INTRODUCTION
•China is seen variously as an ancient civilization
extending over a large area in East Asia.
•China is one of the world's oldest civilizations.
•Full Name – People’s Republic of China (PRC)
established in 1949, commonly known as Chinhe
word "China" is derived from Cin‫)چین‬, a Persian name
for China popularized in Europe by Marco Polo
 Both these words are derived from the
Sanskrit word Cīna (चीन)
 President--Hu Jintao
 Capital- Bijing
 Total area: 9,596,961 sq. km- 3rd place after
Russia & Canada.
 Nationality: Chinese .
 Population (July 2010 est.): 1,330,141,295.

Civil War (1949–present)


After its victory in the Chinese Civil War, the Communist Party of China
(CCP) led by Mao Zedong gained control of most of Mainland China.

China tried to halt the import.
In 1989 british fought with chinese and battle was called opium war.

GREAT WALL OF CHINA


The Great Wall is over 2000 years old and was built over a period of 1000 years. Stretching 4500
miles from Korean to the Gobi Desert it was first built to protect China from marauders from the
north.
ECONOMY

•Natural resources: Coal, iron ore, petroleum,


natural gas, mercury, tin, tungsten, antimony,
manganese, molybdenum, vanadium,
magnetite, aluminum, lead, zinc, uranium,

plastics, organic chemicals. Main partners (2008)--Japan 13.3%,

•China has become the world's fastest growing major economy,

FOREIGN RELATIONS

•China maintains diplomatic relations with most major


countries in the world.
•One-China policy- PRC has made it a precondition to
establishing diplomatic relations that the other country
acknowledges its claim to Taiwan and severs official ties with
the Republic of China government.
•Free trade areas- , the PRC proposed an entirely new
East Asia Summit (EAS) framework as a forum for regional
security issues that pointedly excluded the United States

various species of monkeys and apes.

•China started to develop its own nuclear weapons


and delivery systems.

20% in 2009.
•China is also actively developing
its software, semiconductor and
energy industries, including
renewable energies.
