WHAT IS TIME MANAGEMENT?
The predictable control an individual can exercise
over a series of events.
Time Management refers to managing time
effectively so that the right time is allocated to the
right activity.
Conscious preservation of your life and Destiny by
avoiding waste of time

Time is like money
Time lost cannot be regained, i.e once it is
gone, it is gone.
It can be managed/ not store. (a stich in time
saves nine)

Time is the basic currency in education, like money time needs to
be managed in order to have an efficient and effective educational
pursuit.
The most precious educational resource.
Converts directly into student learning.
The amount you have depends on your management

TWO ELEMENTS OF INSTRUCTIONAL TIME
• Allocated time: time allocated for school over all,
including nonacademic/leisure activities.
• Actual time: time spent on academic activities

LEVELS OF ALLOCATED TIME
• School time: amount of time students are in school
• Factors: length of day, student absences
• Class time: amount of time students are in the classroom
• Factors: Lunch, recess
• Instructional time: amount of time in which students are engaged in
instructional activities
• Factors: organizational activities, interruptions

ACTUAL TIME
The way in which instructional time is actually used regardless of plans or
intentions.
Variables affecting actual time:
• Start and stop times
• Transition times
• Time on-task
• Opportunities to respond (OTR)
• Matching student ability
• Interruptions
