TERMINOLOGY

• IS USED ROUTINELY TO DESCRIBE


THE POSITION OF THE PATIENT
FOR TAKING VARIOUS
RADIOGRAPHS.
BODY PART
• Anatomical Position is the
Description of any region or
part of the body in a specific
stance. In the Anatomical
Position the body is upright
directly facing the observer feet
flat and directed forward. The
upper limbs are at the body’s
sides with the palms facing
forward.
BODY POSITION

• ERECT: either
standing or sitting
SUPINE:LYING ON PRONE: LYING
BACK FACE- DOWN

PROJECTION

• REFERS TO THE WAY THE X-RAY


BEAM, LIKE AN ARROW, PASSES
THROUGH THE BODY WHEN THE
PERSON IS IN THAT POSITION
ANTEROPOSTERIOR
PROJECTION

• PASSES FROM THE FRONT


(anterior) OF THE PERSON AND
EXITS THROUGH THE BACK
(posterior) OF THE PERSON.
POSTEROANTERIOR
PROJECTION

• THE X-RAY BEAM ENTERS THE


BACK OF THE PERSON AND
EXITS IM THE FRONT OF THE
PERSON
BODY MOVEMENT
• FLEXION- Decrease in the
angle of the joint

• EXTENSION- Increase in the angle of the Joint

• ABDUCTION-
Movement of limb away
from midline
