Instructions on Copying SIS DVD Data

to Alternative Sources
Alternative Sources

The process is the same for all methods.

Examples:
• Internal Hard Drives
• Network Folders
• External Drive Folders
Preliminary Information
• It does take time to copy several Gigabytes per
DVD of information from a DVD to a hard drive.
o Current data for all 15 DVDs is over 110 Gigabytes of
data.
• Both setup disks will have to be run on each PC in
order to update to a newer version of SIS data.
• It is also necessary to provide the path for each
folder in the SIS DVD Configuration.
Step 1: Folder Creation
Folders must be created on
your own drive to receive the
SIS DVD Data

Example - E: is the external


drive name

Folders labeled DVDD001


through DVDR0016 are
created on the E Drive.

*Note: The number of folders and


the names of labels can change as
monthly data sets are released.
Step 2: Copy Data

1) Insert SIS Disk #1 in the DVD drive.


2) Select all files.
3) Copy the folders and files to the Disk 1 external hard drive
or network folder.
4) Continue copying data from each SIS DVD data disk to
the appropriate folder on the network drive or external
hard drive.

Step 3: Add Folder Locations in the SIS DVD
Configuration Data Location

1) Start SIS DVD


2) Right click the SIS DVD
icon in the lower right
corner of Windows
3) Select “Configure”

4) Use the ADD


button to add the
drive path for all
eight folders
created in the
previous step

5) Select SAVE
Additional Information
• It will no longer be necessary to insert any SIS DVD
data disks once the data is copied to appropriate
folders and the path to those folders is configured.
– The disconnected SIS program will no longer prompt for the
SIS DVD data disk.

• It is not necessary to copy all SIS DVDs.


– Any of the SIS DVDs may be copied to a hard drive.
– The user will be prompted for the DVD if the data is not
available and the DVD drive path is not provided in the
configuration.
