• A building or room containing collections of books, periodicals, films and recorded music for
use or borrowing by the public or the members of an institution.
KARNATAKA UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

• The Karnataka university library was established in 1950 along with the university.
• The building has a area of 4030 sq.meters.
• It has around 4 lakh books in its four stack rooms and around 300 students at a time to read in
the library.
• Library is practicing open access facility.
• Internet browsing facility is available.
• Inter library loan facility is available.

• The climate is mildly hot during the summer (April–May), and pleasant during rest of the year,
plus has a lot of greenery round. Dharwad is well known as a quiet and pleasant city popular
with students and pensioners. The average yearly rainfall is 838mm.
• Dharwad is known as Chhota Mahabaleshwar due to its excellent climate throughout the year.
ABOUT THE CITY

• Dharwad is the district headquarters of Dharwad district in the state of Karnataka, India. It was
merged with the city of Hubballi in 1961 to form the twin cities of Hubballi -Dharwad.
• Language-Kannada is the local language spoken in Dharwad known as Dharwad kannada.
• Festivals- Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc.
• Food- Dharwad pedha, jolada roti, etc.
