PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
• In early adolescence, the body undergoes more
developmental change that at any other time, apart from the
birth to two years old. The rate of growth is rapid and uneven,
with different pace and rat of change for each individual.
• As preschoolers’ bodies develop over time, the areas in their
brains that control movement continue to mature.
• It involves a series of changes in body size, composition, and
proportion.

(stringing beads,drawing,paint)
COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
• Cognition is the process involving thought,
rationale and perception. The physical changes of
the brain that occur during adolescence follow
typical patterns of cognitive development.
• Refers to reasoning ,thinking and understanding
• Cognitive development is important for knowledge
growth
• Often ask lots of questioning specially WHY.

• Imitating/Imitate – copy adults and friends
• Understand the idea of sharing
• Talks about what he /she likes and is interested in.

APPROPRIATE FOR PRESCHOOLERS
1. Inquiry Learning - It involves children in planning and carrying out
investigations, proposing explanations and solutions, and communicating their
understanding of concepts in variety.
2. Event- Based Approach - children plan enact events in real-life context
drawing on their experiences and knowledge.
3. Project Approach - is an in-depth exploration of a topic that may be child or
teacher- initiated and involve an individual, a group of children, or the whole
class.

4. Explicit Instruction - a structured and systematic approach to teaching


academic skills.
5. Play-Based Learning - provides opportunities for children to actively and
imaginatively engage with people, objects the environment.
6. Direct Teaching/Instruction - is a step-by-step, lesson- by-lesson approach to
teaching which is scripted and follows a pre-determined skill acquisition sequence.
7. Blended Approach - elements from than one approach are combined in
response to the teaching and learning intent within and across learning contexts.
