Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed;

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou grow’st.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,

Da l da te s ljetnim usporedim danom? Kad poredim tebe s lijepim danom ljeta –


Ti ljepša si i ćud ti blaža sva je: Ti si mnogo ljepša, više ljupka, nježna;
Pupoljak se smrzne u maju kad cvjeta,
Otresu vjetri cvijeće Svibnju ranom
Ljepota je ljeta vrlo kratkosežna.
Pa ljetno doba odveć kratko traje;
 
Previše katkad oko neba sja, Katkad sunce s neba odveć vrelo sine,
I često lik mu zlatni sjena skrije, Njemu lice zlatno oblak često skriva,
I sva ljepota ružnom postat zna, Sva ljepota žene sa vremenom mine –
Kad slučaj ili priroda to htije; Priroda il' udes čari joj razriva.
Al tvoje vječno ljeto neće svanut,  
Nit će izgubit čari što te krase, Al' tvog ljeta sunce nikad neće zaći –
Nit će se hvastat Smrt da k njoj ćeš Ti ostat' nikad nećeš bez sadašnjeg sjaja;
krenut, Van života ti se nikad nećeš naći
Dok u pjesmi ovoj vječnost te osvaja.
U stihu ti u vječne rasteš čase:
 
Dok oko gleda i dok dišu ljudi,
Sve dok ljudi vide i dok život traje
I stih moj živ je, i život ti nudi. Ova pjesma tebi život će da daje.

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head;
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,

Ljepše se koralj od usana rudi;
Gospi mi sunce iz oka ne rudi,
Ko sunce lijepost oči joj ne krasi;
Crveniji od usni koralj njoj je, Ako bijel je snijeg, sive su joj grudi,
Ako bijel snijeg je, njoj su sive grudi, Il vlas crna žica, žice su joj vlasi.
Ako je kosa žica, crna toj je;  
Crvenih ja i bijelih vidjeh ruža, Vidjeh baršun ruža, rujnih i bijelih,
Na licu takva ruža dragoj nije;
Al takva ruža s lica njoj ne viri,
Mnogi miris više slasti dijeli
Veći užitak mnogi miris pruža, Od daha što iz moje drage bije.
Nego dah što od gospe mi se širi;  
Slušati volim glas njen, al znam, Volim glas njen, mada više godi
Jača slasti je u glazbi koja skladom mazi; Muzika, jer zvuk joj ljepši ima;
Božicu nikad ne vidjeh da hodi -
Ne vidjeh kako božica korača -
A moja draga ide samo tlima;
Kad moja gospa ide, zemljom gazi.  
Neba mi, ipak ljepša je od sviju Tako mi neba, ipak divna mi je,
Što s njom se lažno usporedit smiju. I nijedna joj druga ravna nije.
