substance mix better than others.

3. In what way can you classify vinegar,

water, oil and dishwashing soap?
TYPE ANSWERS HERE
1. Which mixes well together? And
Explain your answer.
Water + Vinegar
-They mixed well together, because
they have the same density and
polarity.
Water + Oil
- They did not mix well, because they have different
density and polarity. That’s why they didn’t mix well.
Water + Dishwashing Soap
-They mixed well together, after mixing them they
created some bubbles.
Oil + Vinegar
-They did not mixed well together, because after mixing
them the vinegar goes below the oil and doesn’t mix.
Oil + Dishwashing Soap
-They mixed well together, after mixing them the oil and
the soap mixed.
Create a hypothesis why certain substance mix better than others.

• My hypothesis to why certain substance mixed better than others is

because they have the same density and polarity. Example water +
vinegar they have the same density and polarity that’s why they
mixed together. That’s also why others don’t mix well, like water and
oil, they don’t have the same density and polarity that’s why they
separate when you mix them.
In what way can you classify vinegar, water,
oil and dishwashing soap?
• I can classify vinegar and water to be a polar substance that’s why
they can mix well together.
• Since Oil can’t mix well with vinegar and water, we can classify Oil to
be Non-polar Substance. That’s why oil can’t mix well with other
substances.
• Dishwashing soap can both mix well with oil and water, with these we
can classify Dishwashing Soap to be a Bi-polar Substance, meaning it
can mix with both polar and non polar substances.
