1. ENGINE SHOP
• There would be no point talking about the Automotive Production without
talking about the Heart of the Vehicle, i.e. the Engine and along with it the
TransAxle.
• The birth or identity of an engine is given when the Engine Block gets
machined and the the EIN (Engine Identification Number) is punched into the
Engine Block.
• The assembly process of the Engine is again precision controlled with various
stages of machining the Pistons, fitment of the Piston rings and then lowering
the assembly into the Engine Block.
• Finally the Engine Head comes and then the engine undergoes a series of
tests. One of the most significant being the Leak Test and pressure tests.
• The engines are then "pre-run" in some cases before getting mated to the
TransAxle.
• The TransAxle, consisting of the Gear Box assembly is typically made ready
and made available at the marriage point. The Sequence of production of the
Engine closely follows the Production of the Vehicle Body and that of the
TransAxle closely follows the sequence of engine production.
2. PRESS AND BODY SHOPS
• This is where the production process starts, with most of the Metal parts getting pressed
out of Steel Sheets. Mainly by robots as the parts are quit heavier and difficult to operate
by humans.
• The door panels, Roof, Bonnet, Boot Lid etc are typically pressed in to form the basic
structure of the automobile.
The output of the Weld Shop is called as a BIW or a Body In White. These are the
cabs that enter into the Paint Shop. The painting process is one of the most complex
and cleanest of process. The Paint booths for example have to be completely dust free.
4. FINAL ASSEMBLY SHOP
• This is the last and final stop for the automobile in the production process. When out of it, the
vehicle is roadworthy with all its parts working in unison providing locomotion!!!
•
This part of the production process is where most of the fitment is actually done by human hands.
• Most of the components of the car like the windshields, trims, Steering Column, electronics and
the engine - vehicle marriage happens here.
• Finally after the wheels come in, the vehicle becomes capable of moving by its own power.
• Before getting dispatched out of production, the Vehicle undergoes stringent quality tests as well
as the various important component information of the vehicle is captured and stored into the
production databases.
• Following the drive test, the vehicle reaches the yard from where they are dispatched to the
dealership and finally to waiting customers
• Coming to the car making process,
• Engines and T.Axel are assembled and sent

further.
• All the panels of the car are pressed at the Press & Body Shop
Press shop and welded together at the Body
shop mostly controlled by robots making the
human intervention less and to ensure
consistent build quality. Paint Shop
• From the Trim line, the car goes to the Chassis line where engine and suspension
parts are fitted and sent on to the Final line.
• When all the parts are fitted, the car goes to the OK line for inspection and is sent to the
Roll & Brake testing. After this comes the real road test. The car goes through the
showers afterwards and sent to the Final Inspection line.
HMC R&D CENTRE

Introduction of a new material in a vehicle is a 3-step process shown in the graphic below.
The development phase is applicable only when a new material with specific properties in
mind needs to be developed.
This phase involves mostly the R&D division at the material supplier and also the automaker if
it is a joint development effort.
Before the new developed material can be used in an automobile component, it needs to be
evaluated and qualified by the OEM. The qualification phase is followed by the validation
phase which involves part prototyping and performance testing.
This paper focuses primarily on the material qualification step but also touches on the material
development and validation process.
Hyundai have various testing labs for several testing and research like:-
• Metals Mechanical Testing Lab
• Plastics Mechanical Testing Lab
• Composite Mechanical Testing Lab
• Component Mechanical Testing Lab
• Joining lab
• Textile Testing Lab
• Temperature Testing Lab
Conclusion
The automotive industry continues to see growth year on year, with high
competition and tough regulations influencing vehicle manufacturers. We
can expect to see further research and development into more advanced
materials. Working with automotive suppliers, the mechanical testing
industry will continue to develop standardization and testing solutions for
the wide spectrum of required testing.

ADMIN SECTION OF HYUNDAI MOTORS.
• There are plenty of automotive jobs that pertain to design, engineering, sales, and repair
work. But if we're more of a business-minded person, then we'll be happy to know that we
can also find a wealth of jobs in business administration. Here are 5 business
administration roles in the automotive industry that could be perfect for we.
• Dealership Management
There are lots of business administration roles in dealership management. When we're in a
management role at a car dealership, we'll generally be tasked with overseeing the
salespeople who work at the dealership, and we'l be responsible for maximizing their sales.
How exactly do we do that? we'll have to develop effective training methods and sales
procedures that convert

• Auto Shop Management
There's a huge amount of autobody shops around the world, which means there's
plenty of jobs in auto shop management. As an auto shop manager, we'll have to
manage our staff of auto technicians we'll do scheduling and we'll also evaluate
their work and make sure it's top quality. we also may be in charge of ordering
parts that are needed for repairs. If we're going to succeed as an auto shop
manager, we'll definitely need to have a thorough understanding of how vehicles
work. Otherwise, we may have difficulty assisting our staff with complicated
problems.
The toughest thing about being an auto shop manager is dealing with the
customers. Understandably, many people are wary about auto shops and believe
that repair services are overpriced or misleading we'll have to do everything in our
power to make customers happy so they'll keep coming back and so they spread
the word about our business

• Marketing
Marketing is an integral part of the automotive industry and there's plenty of work to be
found. If we're going to be doing marketing for an auto manufacturer, then we'll be
involved with planning marketing campaigns across a variety of mediums: television, print,
online, etc
If we're working for a dealership, we'll be more involved with doing local-based marketing.
Be sure to do research on local SEO marketing strategies if we're going to be doing online
marketing. For example, if we're working at an Orlando-based dealership than we'd want to
use a local keyword like, "lease a new Audi in Orlando." SEO is the most cost-effective
way to do marketing for local businesses.
• Accounting
we'll also be responsible for maxing out your company's tax deductions, and to look for areas
in the company where profitability can be improved or where costs can be cut. accounting
usually requires a college degree, and it's best suited for people who love numbers.
• Parts retail
when we work in the back office of an auto parts store, then we'll be tasked with managing the
store's inventory of auto parts, setting prices, hiring employees, and ensuring that your
employees provide the best possible customer service. this is great work for auto enthusiasts
who'd rather not do the tough labor that's required of technicians. but it's still challenging in its
own way. auto parts stores have a massive inventory. so we're going to have to keep a keen
eye on what we've got stocked and make sure we're offering the most competitive prices on
the market to draw business.
