• ETHOS
• Ethos is a discipline that examines one morality or the moral standard of the society.

• “Ethos” is a Greek word which means “character”.

• It is used to describe the guiding beliefs or ideals that characterize a community or a


nation.

• Oxford Dictionary defines ethos as “the characteristic spirit and beliefs of


community/people which distinguishes one culture from other.
Indian ethos

Indians believe:

• Accommodative spirit rather than conflicting spirit

• Concept of duties rather than concept of rights.

• Flexible order than unchanging order.

• Respect for elderly rather than merely focusing on merit.

• Ego sublimation rather than ego assertion.
