Artists and Artisans
Artists and Artisans
AND
ARTISANS
WHAT MAKES AN
ARTIST DIFFERENT
FROM AN ARTISAN?
An artist is dedicated only to the creative side, making
visually pleasing work only for the enjoyment and
appreciation of the viewer, but with no functional value.
Artist is an art practitioner such as painter, sculptor,
choreographer, dancer, musician, etc. who produces or
creates indirectly functional arts with aesthetic value
using imagination.
An artisan on the other hand, is essentially a manual
worker who makes items with his or her hands, and who
through skill, experience and create things of great beauty
as well as being functional.
Artisan is a craftsman, such as carpenter, carver, plumber,
blacksmith, weaver, embroider, etc. who produces directly
functional and/or decorative arts.
