COORDINATED FUNCTIONS OF

THE REPRODUCTIVE,
ENDOCRINE, AND NERVOUS
SYSTEMS
What is common in the picture below?
Reproductive
System
It consists of interconnected sexual
organs and tissues that function in
unison for the production, storage
and development of reproductive
cells, for the secretion of hormones
necessary for other body function,
and for the purpose of
reproduction
Female
Reproductive
System
Responsible for producing
and storing the female
reproductive cell called ovum
or egg cell.
PARTS OF FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE
SYSTEM
1. Ovaries- It is located deep inside the pelvic cavity. It contains about a couple of
millions if egg cells and produces estrogen and progesterone which is the main sex
hormones of the female.
2. Fallopian tubes- They serve as the passageways for the egg cell once it travels from the
ovaries towards the uterus.
3. Uterus- A hollow pear-shaped organ above the urinary bladder where a fertilized egg
called zygote develops into a fetus.
4. Vagina- Main female sexual organ involved in the process of mating
5. Cervix-Narrow region at the lowest portion of the uterus that opens into the vagina.
6. Labia- Known as the “lips” of the vagina.
Male
Reproductive
System
The three main functions of the
male reproductive system are
secretion of male sex hormones,
production of male sex cells or
gametes, and sustenance and
transfer of sperm cells to the
location of fertilization.
PARTS OF MALE REPRODUCTIVE
SYSTEM
1, Penis-Male sexual organ involve in the process of sexual intercourse.
2. Scrotum- Male external pocket that houses the testes.
3. Epididymis-It stores developing sperms that mature in about 9-12 months.
4. Vas deferens- It serve as a passageway for semen.
5. Seminal vesicles- It secrets 60% of the total volume of the semen.
6. Prostate- It helps neutralize the acidic environment in the female reproductive tract.
7. Urethra-is a tube that runs from your bladder to the end of the penis. It carries urine and
semen from your bladder to the outside of your body
