SF ACC / SF SPCA  2015 YEAR IN REVIEW

Presentation to the Animal Welfare Commission

April 2016

Page 1
It’s Been a Banner Year for Homeless Cats and Dogs in San Francisco

The 20-plus year collaboration between SF ACC and the SF SPCA helps ensure that animals
are not left behind

The result: San Francisco leads the nation in preventing and addressing animal homelessness
 The three main ways to measure a city’s safety  intake per capita, euthanasia per capita, and live
release rate  all improved in 2015

 Overall intake is down for the fourth year in a row

 Intake for both cats and dogs is down from the prior year

 Together, our efforts to help animals through medical, behavioral, and foster programs have
reduced euthanasia by nearly 40% since 2009

 San Francisco’s Live Release Rate increased to 93%  the highest

number ever recorded in the city
