Scholar’s Defined Gender Discrimination:
▪ Crandall and Eshleman defined justifications as “any psychological or social process
that can serve as an opportunity to express genuine prejudice without suffering
external or internal sanction”. According to social dominance theory, justification of
practices that sustain social inequality arises through the endorsement of
legitimizing myths .
▪ We assume that an equivalent mediational process underlies the justification of
gender discrimination in the workplace or, put differently, that the sexism-
opposition to women’s career relationship is mediated by legitimizing myths.
Marlene Schiappa : defined the French Minister of Gender Equality who is
promoting this law, has said that she hopes the law would embarrass the men who
harass women and would then lead to change. She stated that there has been
opposition to the planned legislation, and that men have responded by saying that
catcalling is merely "French culture".
Introduction:
▪ Sexual discrimination among employees is particularly prevalent in some countries
and cities due to patriarchal cultures.
▪ Gender inequality has major consequences not only for the workers but also for the
dignity of the workplace. For e.g., when university workers believe that their gender
restricts their career development, some of them may engage in unhealthy
behaviors in protest or revenge against the organization.
▪ Almost half of the world’s workforce are working in specific gender professions
where at least 80 percent of the employees are of the same sex.
Statement of the Problem:
▪ Gender discrimination turns the employees emotionally brittle, simple peace loving
employees transform into paranoid and suspicious, fearful and angry individuals.
▪ Elimination of Gender Discrimination is crucial for the satisfaction and motivation,
commitment and enthusiasm and less stress of the employees.
Objectives of the Study:
▪ To assess the gender discrimination in work force.
▪ To study the impact of gender discrimination on women employees.
▪ To propose practices to help reduce the sticky floor and glass ceiling effects.
Ethics and the gender equality in Multinational companies:
▪ Multinational enterprises must now follow the policies of Title VII of the Civil Rights
Act of 1964 in their overseas operations, at least with respect to U.S. expatriate
employees.
▪ Doing so in a culture which discourages gender equality in the workplace raises
difficult issues, both practically and ethically. Attitudes toward gender-equality into
a social culture such as Japan or Saudi Arabia may seem "ethnocentric," a version of
"ethical imperialism." Yet adapting to host country norms risks a kind of "moral
relativism."
FORMS OF GENDER DISCRIMINATION:
Sexism:
▪ Sexism is the prejudice or discrimination based on sex, especially in the form of
discrimination against women. It can also mean the unfair treatment of people
based on their sex or gender.
▪ Sexism is based on the idea that women are inferior to men, and functions to
oppress women in society.
▪ One of the ways in which sexism is manifested in countries and cultures around the
world is through the socialization of gender norms. For example, for centuries in the
West, gender roles have depicted women as the more nurturing, emotional, and
physically weaker gender. Thus, women have been relegated to the domestic
sphere, while gender roles have depicted men as more fit for public life, leadership
positions, and activities in business, politics, and academia.
Implicit bias/implicit sexism:
▪ According to the US National Judicial Education Program, the most prominent forms
of gender bias are “
(i) Stereotyped thinking about the nature and roles of women and men.
(ii) Devaluing what is perceived as woman's work.
(iii) Lack of knowledge of the social and economic realities of women's and men's
lives".
▪ Psychologists in the field of "implicit social cognition" study "implicit attitudes"
toward consumer products, self-esteem, food, alcohol, political values, and more,
the most striking and well-known research has focused on implicit attitudes toward
members of socially stigmatized groups.
Sexual harassment and assault:
▪ Sexual harassment is a legal term that refers to unsolicited verbal or physical
behavior of a sexual nature.
▪ This illustrates that sexual violence stems from male supremacy over what is
considered undervalued or what can be dominated through the body.
▪ One example of public sexual harassment that exists in many cultures around the
world is "catcalling." Some defend this behavior, saying that it's part of the culture
and is not intended to offend or cause any distress.
Educational Status of Women in Afghanistan:
▪ As researchers pointed out in 2009, More than 90 % of women in Afghanistan are
illiterate; most of them are not permitted to leave home or work outside their
homes; only 5% of girls studying in elementary school are entitled to twelfth grade.
▪ Religion is used as a platform for accepting a culture of gender inequality, and in
higher education Muslim countries have less equality, and fewer women. The low
presence of women in higher education as a member of the faculty, and particularly
in its higher levels (associate professor and professor) and management in general,
and in higher education management in particular, is not only related to
Afghanistan.

CONCLUSION:
▪ Organizations are in situation to be able to surpass their competitors, because
women, like men, have the power of creativity and innovation, even in some cases
they may be more able than men to solve problems in critical situations, while in an
organization there be gender discrimination and they should not use the power of
women.
▪ The results of their research showed that the higher the level of gender
discrimination, the lower the employee satisfaction rating.
▪ The organizational commitment in the organization because as long as there is
unfair treatment of people because of gender in organizations, the level of
organizational commitment of employees decreases and commitment to the
organization as well.
▪ Gender inequality has a detrimental and important impact on work commitments.
Future Research and Recommendations:
▪ In future research, cases related to gender discrimination such as glass rock and
glass roof can be examined.
▪ The present study is no exception to this rule. One of the limitations of the research
is the effect of some out-of-control factors for the researcher such as people's
thinking and attitude and its effect on answering the questionnaire, this will
influence the quality of the data.
▪ The lack of generalizability of research findings is another drawback for this study.
Because this research was conducted only in the company of the dominant private
university in Afghanistan and it is not possible to generalize the results to other
organizations.
