When I Survey the Wonderful Cross

When I survey
the wondrous cross
on which the
prince of glory died,
My richest gain
I count but loss
and pour contempt
on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord,
that I should boast
save in the death
of Christ, my God;
All the vain things
that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.
See, from his head,
his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love
flow mingled down.
Did e'er such love
and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose
so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm
of nature mine,
that were a present
far too small;
Love so amazing,
so divine,
demands my soul,
my life, my all.
Matthew 26:2-5

Song
“After two days the Passover is
coming, and the Son of Man will
be handed over to be crucified.”
The chief priests and the elders
of the people gathered in the
palace of the high priest
Matthew 26:47-56

Song
Jesus replied,

“Do what you came for,

friend.”
“All who take the sword
will perish by the sword”
Revelation Song
Worthy is the
Lamb who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song
To Him who sits on
Heaven's mercy seat
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is
And is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my ev'rything
And I will adore You
Clothed in rainbows
of living color
Flashes of lightning
Rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and
Glory and power be
To You the only wise King
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is
And is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my ev'rything
And I will adore You
Matthew 26:69-75

Song
I
DO NOT
KNOW
THIS MAN
“Before the cock crows, you will
deny me three times.”
Ah, Holy Jesus
Ah, holy Jesus,
how hast thou offended
that man to judge thee
hath in hate pretended?
By foes derided,
by thine own rejected,
O most afflicted.
Who was the guilty?
Who brought this upon thee?
Alas, my treason,
Jesus, hath undone thee.
’Twas I, Lord Jesus,
I it was denied thee;
I crucified thee.
Therefore, kind Jesus,
since I cannot pay thee,
I do adore thee,
and will ever pray thee;
think on thy pity
and thy love unswerving,
not my deserving.
Matthew 27:11-26

Song
“Are you the
King of the Jews?”

“You say so.”

“Whom do you want
me to release to you?
Jesus Messiah
He became sin
who knew no sin
that we might become
His righteousness
He humbled Himself
and carried the cross
Love so amazing
love so amazing
Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The Rescue for sinners
The Ransom from heaven
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all
His body the bread
His blood the wine
Broken and poured out
all for love
The whole earth trembled
and the veil was torn
Love so amazing
love so amazing
Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The Rescue for sinners
The Ransom from heaven
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all
Matthew 27:27-31

Song
After
twisting
some
thorns into
a crown,
they put it
on his
head
They put a reed in his right hand and
knelt before him and mocked him
So I’ll cherish
the old rugged cross,
till my trophies
at last I lay down;
I will cling
to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day
for a crown.
Tonight we remember Christ’s
suffering and pain.
But through His pain,
you have

LIFE
But through His pain,
you have

HOPE
But through His pain,
you have

FREEDOM
Christ’s suffering and death
was a demonstration of
God’s love for you.
You were given a slip
of paper this evening.
We ask tonight that you
take this quiet moment to
find a pen or pencil…
…and simply write
your name down.
You’re invited this evening to
nail your name to the cross…
…as we remember that
His death brings us life.
Matthew 27:32-54

Song
They came upon a man from Cyrene named Simon;
they compelled this man to carry His cross
Two bandits were crucified with Him,
one on his right and one on his left…

Those who passed by derided

Him, shaking their heads
Darkness came
over the whole land
Jesus cried with a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’
that is, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Matthew 27:57-60

Song
Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean
linen cloth and laid it in his own new tomb
He then rolled a great stone to the
door of the tomb and went away
Near the Cross
Jesus, keep me near the cross;
there a precious fountain,
free to all, a healing stream
flows from Calvary’s mountain.
In the cross, in the cross,
be my glory ever,
till my raptured soul shall find
rest beyond the river.
Amazing grace
how sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
but now I’m found
was blind, but now I see

Jesus Paid it All
And I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness watch and pray
Find in Me thine all in all
'Cause Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Lord now indeed I find
Thy pow'r and Thine alone
Can change the leper's spots
And melt the heart of stone
'Cause Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
He washed it white as snow
He washed it white as snow
Oh praise the One who paid my debt
and raised this life up from the dead
And I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness watch and pray
Find in Me thine all in all
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
