 Project description
Each student is requested to diagnose, understand and provide an architectural design
solution
for establishing a cultural corner with outdoor facilities to accommodate one cultural activity
like; art, sculpture, poetry, music… . Students are required to use (used containers) to design
the corner and outdoor facilities to provide effective functional and meaningful architectural
building. Students are expected to face the challenges and constrains related to the site,
cultural
meaning, current architectural style, and the reuse and recycling process.

Theme…

We will establish a project to educate young people and shed light on the skill of Arab
women's hands and their ability to practice many professions, specifically the pottery
industry and weaving .

This project will be held on the occasion of the designation of Irbid as the capital of Arab
culture during the year 2021.
 Why this theme ??!

The pottery profession is one of the oldest professions, as women used to shape pottery
for multiple uses, such as drinking water, cooking utensils, and others.

Now, women find it difficult to earn money, as handicrafts have been marginalized with
the development of different machines and the emergence of new materials, so we
designed this project to revive the profession of pottery and weaving and remind young
people of the skill possessed by women in Arab society . and give women the
opportunity to have her own business to collect her own monies .

so by attempt to this project women will learn how to create and shape pottery
not only pottery some other crafts could be displayed such as weaving , weaving rugs
the Jordanian formal dress , etc.
 Site
The site is surrounded by a university, a school, and a Jordanian Archaeological Museum
Choosing the location near the students’ gathering so that the largest possible number of young
people can be educated about the things that the project aims for.

Why choosing it near to the Museum Of Jordanian Heritage ? That’s to attract those interested in
culture, as the museum contains relics of Roman and Byzantine pottery. and other historical pieces.

1. Corrugated wall panels frame cargo doors and cross members of
shipping containers are all made from Corten steel

Corten steel (often referred to as Cor–Ten) is a

weather resistant steel which could more
accurately be termed as an "Atmospheric
Corrosion Resistant Steel". It is a copper
chromium alloy steel – this alloy displays a
greater level of resistance to atmospheric
weathering when compared to other unalloyed
steels.

2. Bottom of a shipping container

Beams or joints called cross members support the shipping container

floor

1. The space the cross members create between the ground

and the flooring prevents moisture from seeping into the
container from underneath flooring

2. Cross members are one of the reasons that many container

structures don’t require a foundation, such as ground-level
offices.

3. The cross members of the floor frame lift the structures

away from the ground and mitigate the risk of damage caused
by natural elements

There is two options for container flooring :

1. the bamboo flooring ( lower coast and greater availability ): mildew resistant , very durable ,renewable resource and a good
option when aesthetics is important

2. Marine – Grade plywood flooring

3. Corner castings have openings for twist lock connections that
allow them to be connected to other containers or to anchor
points

They’re also designed to be strong enough for crane rigging (to

be lifted by rigging to a crane), even when fully loaded.

Why this case ? There are a lot of experience
waiting to visit this building , walking threw the
trees using these masteries stairs that look like a
cave and also by walking under the building you can
notice the abstract of a bird wings so you feel as if
this building belong to the jungle on the other hand
the odd yellow color of the building which could be
helpful to fide it easily and attract more people to it

The inclination to form the stairs. it also can be used without

stairs as well, as we configure the inclination to match the
correct rate of the human slope .

The first thing that attract me in this building was its color so
choosing a color is an essential step in creating any project

And here we can see how the void

caused by inclination were filled with
curtain panels and appears as if the two
buildings were connected by these
panels.
